Josh, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Atrium was created really out of necessity. My business partner and I had a recording studio in Pasadena, and were mentoring so many bands coming through the studios. We listened to what the artist wanted to do, what they didn’t know and paired that with me working in television knowing what kind of music I was looking for on TV shows and films. We wanted to create a business that changed what the music business was doing, and how they were doing it.
Josh, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We take composers, songwriters and artists from all around the world and place their music in TV, Film, advertising and any other opportunity we can find. We also love to teach how the sync world works, and educate our artists as much as we can to give them the tools to succeed. We also collect performance royalties from all around the world for our artists and admin their catalog. This allows artists to be artist and us to do the business, and then we create a bridge where we all get to work together as a team.
Do you have any stories of times when you almost missed payroll or any other near death experiences for your business?
Starting off as a small start up, missing payroll, or even wondering if we should roll this whole thing up was a really common theme. But, we learned from the mistakes, worked even harder and continue to prove ourselves through the work that we do.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth, just like anything. The best music comes from our existing clients who tell their friends about us. We absolutely love what we do, and love to work with people who feel the same about what they do.
