We recently connected with Josh Sadowski and have shared our conversation below.
Josh, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had started sooner?
My mom was a classically trained opera singer, which influenced me to start singing at a very young age. I also began writing music when I was in middle school, but I was always so insecure and scared of singing in front of others, especially once my voice started changing. When I started posting content in 2018 I knew that comedy was something that did extremely well, and I loved writing comedy skits and acting in my videos. From the beginning, I intentionally grew my audience to be able to pursue music full time. I wanted to be able to move to LA and support myself financially. After making content for a few years, I tried managing other artists which did extremely well, but I slowly realized how I had put myself in a box and lost sight on what my true passions were. At the beginning of 2022 I realized that my purpose to be fulfilled would be driven by the passions I had a heart, and that’s when I decided to start making music full time while also being extremely active on my socials to build an audience that was also more aware of my musical abilities. I’m extremely thankful for the experiences I had and the time that I took to try different things in the entertainment industry. One thing that I have learned and I continue to tell others is that if you have a talent or passion that is much bigger than what you’re already doing, remember to not lose sight of where you’re going and not get comfortable with where you’re at. You’ve made it this far, so why stop now? What helped me realize this was when I was financially stable and doing well on social media, but I felt there was a void that wasn’t being filled. It was hard to make the decision to start rebranding due to the potential of numbers dropping and having to build an Extention of your already exsisting audience. I’m so glad I made the decision though, because we are getting close to finishing my album, and the doors that have opened are more than I could have ever imagined. It just takes the faith and drive to pursue what you love, even if it’s scary at first.

Josh, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born in Maryland, but when people ask me where I’m from the answer always varies. Because my mom was in ministry, we were always on the road. I didn’t come from a lot of money, and I had big dreams that I knew could only happen if I had certain resources. That’s where social media came in. I started posting content on tiktok in 2018 and immediately found success. It was a dream come true. I would post original comedy skits with very distinct characters that were also extremely relatable.. I built a connection with my audience and was able to grow to over 5 million followers across platforms. I’m 2019 I started my own management company when I realized there was a lack of representation for fellow creators within the industry who got their start on tiktok. I have been able to work with amazing brands including Chipotle, Invisalign, Amazon, MTV, and many others. I continue to work with brands as a creative director, consultant, and talent as well. I love being hands on with the writing and creative process as this helps me bring value to the brands I work with. Since 2018 I’ve been able to learn the ins and outs of the industry, which I’m extremely thankful for. Having this knowledge and experience has not only helped me as a creator, but it has helped me grow as an artist as well. The past few months I’ve been spending most of my time with my team in the studio working on my album and collaborative singles that will be coming out very soon. This is where my passion resides, and I’m looking forward to what’s to come. I continue to post content that is authentic to my voice which helps with the struggle of burning out when being active on social media. I’m always finding ways to incorporate the fact that I’m LatinX, LGBTQ+, and a type one diabetic as well.
How did you build your audience on social media?
The biggest and most difficultly step for most people is getting started. My advice is to spend some time analyzing what works for different platforms, and how that fits into the type of content you would like to put out. The most important thing is not to wait for the right moment to start posting. Just start posting content because no matter what project you start, there is always going to be room for growth. I spent too much time worrying about the editing software or the camera I had when I should have been focused on the content I wanted to make. It’s extremely important to remember that you can draw inspiration from other creators, but you also have to let your inner creativity shine through your content. This is what’s going to make you stand out. Your voice and persona is unique. Use it. Don’t be afraid to have fun and post content that’s outside of your comfort zone. I also recommend surrounding yourself with other creative people in the industry to learn from others as well.

: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Why, was the first question I had to ask. Once I realized my “why” and found peace and joy in the career that i wanted, I was able to write down my goals. The goals might have seemed unobtainable in the moment, but I had faith that I would work to get myself there one day. I became so trapped when I reached a certain point and wasn’t sure of where I was heading. I was able to look back and remember that I wanted to go on tour and be a full time artist. I remembered that I wanted to launch multiple companies and build a team for myself that allowed me to not only do music but also do motivational speaking, and acting. Reflecting on your end goals and passions is an extremely powerful way to get there and not get lost in the midst of everything else that comes your way in the process.
