Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Josh Rodewald. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Josh, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

When I was 15 years old I started racing dirt track cars through-out Northern WI. One day while working on my racecar in my dads shop, I heard a terrifying yell from outside the shop. When I rushed out of the shop I had found my dad pinned under the ford explorer he had ben working on outside on the apron of the shop. The hydraulic floor jack had failed while he was working under the vehicle, pinning my dad under the vehicle. I had to rescue him from under the vehicle by using another jack that we had in our shop. Luckily his injuries were only minor. I could’ve lost my father that day.

Every year there are over 4000 injuries and deaths in the US related to failed portable jacks, jack stands, and portable vehicle lift systems. Our mission is to provide safer, efficient, portable vehicle lifting products to the performance and service and repair industries.

Without certified and tested portable equipment, consumers and service professionals face significant challenges in safely lifting vehicles. Current portable vehicle lifts are complicated, time-consuming to set up, and often lack safety factors, increasing the risk of perceived and the actual risk of accidents, which contributes to unnecessary stress, anxiety, injuries, and death. Our Freedom Vehicle Lift products address these issues by prioritizing e-safety, simplicity, reliability, and eliminating fluid power, hoses, and cords.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I’m Josh Rodewald, President and Visionary of a startup company called Freedom Vehicle Lifts LLC. I’ve followed my dad’s footsteps in life and pursued a career in engineering. We have a combined 85+ years of experience in the engineering, patented product development, and manufacturing fields. We also have a history in motorsports, having both built and driven racecars and racing snowmobiles, and have a common passion for new ideas and innovations to help make better products.

I’m a proven leader, passionate and successful engineer, and innovative entrepreneur who enjoys developing solutions and problem solving through lean design and collaboration with clients. I have over 25 years of engineering and project management experience in product development and automation system development and processes. I am experienced and a contributor in providing growth to the businesses I serve. I have led project teams both nationally and internationally including GSA contract work. I have focused hard work ethics and provide family values with-in my relationships in businesses and strive to exceed customer expectations at all levels with-in my organizations. I am continually seeking excellence, continued education, and learning in whatever I do. I believe that quality is achieved through attention to detail.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

Because of our background and history in racing, we understood the needs of our customer’s. We spent 2 years marketing and interviewing over 700 race teams with-in the performance industry to get a better understanding of what customers currently do not like about existing portable vehicle lifting products.

We then brought our prototype products into the field. Working with teams to help develop our products. The products are truly designed by racers for racers. Working with racers brought our product designs to a new level. We would then bring our products as demo units to racetracks, allowing team to use our products for the night, asking for feedback about what they do not like about the product.

Once our customer feedback was consistent and was addressing the concerns from customers about existing products, we launched the new Freedom Vehicle Lifting products. With over 300 sales through-out the US and Canada in only a 2 year period.

We’ve developed a sponsorship and ambassador programs for our customers. Each and every customer is a ambassador to our product, so we allow them to each help generate revenue for our business by helping promote and sell our products with a sales % kickback. Each ambassador is eligible for this program and in control of the amount or sale reimbursement percentage based on the effort they put into promoting and selling our products.
