We recently connected with Josh Johnson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Josh, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Jindo is music bingo. So, the game and company name had to have a similar feeling and “shout-ability” to bingo. I also thought it made sense to have 5 letters since a traditional bingo card has 5 columns with one letter over each. I tried different combinations of DJ/Music + Bingo, like: Djingo, Mingo and Mungo but they all just sounded like exotic animals, lol. Ironically, a Jindo is also a South Korean dog breed that is super cute!
Eventually, I settled on Jindo because it rolled off the tongue easily and also started with a J. Plus, @playjindo was available on all major social media which made it practical for building the brand.

Josh, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Jindo is the culmination of many years of work in music and entertainment. My parents signed me up for piano lessons as a kid. I produced beats, wrote raps and DJ’d house parties in my teens. In my 20s and 30s I wrote, produced, recorded and performed original music with some amazingly talented individuals. Now, in my 40s, I am pouring those life experiences and skills in Jindo, the music bingo party game.
Jindo is a software that allows entertainers and venues to create party game experiences that connect and engage. Music bingo is one of the many forms of Eatertainment that is skyrocketing in popularity and Jindo is the easiest and funnest way to Host and Play. It’s all-digital, with nothing to download. In addition, we provide tons of resources for hosts and venues to book, promote and perform at their own music bingo nights.
If you are a Mobile DJ, Karaoke or Trivia Night Host, Bar, Restaurant or Brewery looking to draw in new people and keep them there – check out Jindo. It’s not your grandma’s bingo, but she can play too!

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
If you are having trouble getting something to move, just push harder.
That is a lesson I had to unlearn.
By the end of 2022, my mind was racing and my body was beginning to break down. Since early 2020, I had been relentlessly pushing to bring Jindo into existence – from the idea in my head to a real world thing. There were painful lessons and setbacks along the way. The urge to push harder made me reactionary and frustrated, unable to form a good long-term strategy or carryout short-term tactics. My relationships, health and business struggled as a result.
That all changed in 2023, when we implemented the Traction EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) and began using Trello for task management and communication. The combination of those two things, brought clarity to everything. Organized, with a clear vision to create. I stopped pushing so hard and relaxed a bit. Maintaining a steady, disciplined approach to business instead of a frantic, manic approach.
In short: work smarter, not harder.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Traction by Gino Wickman. It forced me to breakdown the various departments of the business, creating clear roles and responsibilities in the process. This built in accountability and made the vision of Jindo crystal clear. Now, able to compartmentalize, I can focus my time on high impact activities and delegate the rest.
