We were lucky to catch up with Josh Gluck recently and have shared our conversation below.
Josh, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
While I’ve worked on many projects (my own as well as others), the most meaningful would have to be my Debut EP titled, “WELCOME HOME”. Years ago when I imagined what creating my first EP would look like, I never pictured it taking place locked away in my house during a global pandemic. None of us had ‘pandemic’ in the visions of what future versions of ourselves were up to. Being forced to take a step away from the world for a while is what inspired the creation of the EP. I took time to think about what truly mattered to me and what I was grateful for, in the midst of all the chaos that the pandemic brought. Welcome Home is about the people, places, and things that feel like Home.
Josh, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a 23 year old Pop/Rock artist from Broward County, Fl. My life has always revolved around music. Whether it was about playing in cover bands, writing songs for myself or others, playing my original music with my band, or listening to records with my family, music has been my constant. I’ve come to find that I think music is my way of best communicating and interacting with the world and I believe music can help people see how more similar we are than different from each other. I write and perform my own music as well as writing music for other artists/producers. One of my favorite parts of that aspect of my job is helping creatives take something in their minds and transforming it into something physical.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Invest in each other and invest in art. The creative ecosystem can be incredibly lucrative and I’m pleased to see that more and more people are understanding that as new technologies make it easier to invest in the creative landscape. Today it is easier than ever to support someone’s art, whether it’s buying their music as opposed to streaming, coming to a show, or even something as effortless as sharing a post.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Years ago I was introduced to a teacher and author by the name of Eckhart Tolle. His teachings focus on the significance and power of Presence, the awakening state of consciousness, which transcends ego and discursive thinking. I read almost all of his books and watched every video I could find. Today I can confidently say that his teachings have impacted the way I live my life on a moment to moment basis and it absolutely affects the way I approach and deal with business.
