We were lucky to catch up with Josh Flynn recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh , thanks for joining us today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.

I watched my dad growing up, he always had an evolving business and didn’t several different things and showed me you don’t have to clock in for some one. My mom taught me to live for today. They were totally different which helped even me out a lil… even though I lean towards my mom in alot of aspects.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is captain Josh Flynn. I run EL GATO Sportfishing. I’ve been fishing my whole life and have been offshore fishing SC for the last 7 years. We take pride in top notch offshore experiences for our clients. We specialize in specific targeting of species and combo trips. We had a really successful year. Never thought I could enjoy a job so much. The look on a client’s face when they get that fish they’ve been after is priceless. We research and plan accordingly prior to every trip, we don’t just run a set program. These fish move and you need good water. We do our best every trip to land your dream fish.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

We advertised our catches on social media and it helped alot. Also lots of good clients and friends referring or sharing our page. We had some good finishs in a few tournaments helped our reputation as well. We try hard and the results usually show.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?

It’s actually easy to keep morale high in this industry, the customers are usually very nice and happy. Sometimes the weather can be tough but when a client is smiling big its hard not to be happy.
