Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joseph Nguyen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Joseph , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was one of the most important lessons you learned in school? Why did that lesson stick with you?
One of the most important lessons I learned in the Army came during my first field training exercise as a newly promoted Captain and Battalion Intelligence Officer, leading a team of seven analysts. My role was like that of a senior project manager advising an executive—I gathered, analyzed, and assessed information to guide our Battalion Commander’s decisions, similar to how a business might use data to predict market trends.
The stakes were high, as my analysis could mean the difference between success and or failure. My experience in Field Artillery gave me confidence, but this new role tested me. I worked late nights setting up systems and refining procedures, and, ultimately, our team emerged as the top intelligence unit.
I learned that success comes from preparation and confidence, no matter the field. Each experience can be translated into new roles. Now in real estate, I draw on these lessons to stand out and embrace new challenges. It’s not just about time or experience but adaptability, growth, and proving capability every day.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into the Real Estate Industry through my curiosity for real estate and a few friends that I have served with who are now in the industry. I provide real estate services in helping a client either purchase or sell a home and any home service issues or questions they have like maintenance.
What sets me apart from most other agents out there is my 16 year military background. Specifically in Military Intelligence. Imagine having a military intelligence advisor who have advised Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, and a General as your real estate advisor. I bring my expertise in data analyst, assessment report creation, project management, time management, problem solving, negotiation skills, presentation skills, simplifying process, mentorship, and dedicated service to bear. The client is my commanding officer and I am one of your most trusted advisor. Helping to ensure I make your real estate goals a reality.
What I am most proud of and would like people to know about me is I am an extremely hard worker and do everything I can to find multiple solutions. Especially when I come up to explain a potential issue discovered, I will immediately advise and recommend several solutions. I have a keen sense to understand and see things from your perspective to help ensure I advise and recommend the best course based on your vision. Additionally I am a very warm and inviting person. I enjoy talking to people about life and hearing and learning from their stories. Everyone has a great story to tell and lesson to learn.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
One of my favorite books is Start with Why. Not only was this important to learn to be a better leader, especially in the military when leading Soldiers, but for yourself as well.
Finding and understanding your why is the base fuel that will push you towards your goal. even on days when you motivation isn’t as high, the why if its strong enough will help you stay consistent. It really helps bring that sense of fulfillment.
In the Army the definition of a leader is someone who provides, purpose, motivation, and direction. Without a why, you’re not gonna get there effectively.
The next favorite book is the compound effect. small actions adds up, this really help me to ensure that we stay consistent. tackle things in small achievable chunks rather then always trying to take big bites in short time. The other big thing I learned from this is patience.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The best strategy I have for this is meeting in person and video. I usually try to avoid cold calls and paper marketing. I found for me talking to people in person they can get a better idea of my personality and what I have to offer. I have been told I have a very charismatic and energetic aura that attracts people and eases them to talk to me. meeting in person and sharing videos has helped me really show my brand and my value I bring to the client. Open Houses is one of my main stay strategies for this.
