We were lucky to catch up with Joseph Kay recently and have shared our conversation below.
Joseph, appreciate you joining us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
The first time I ever made money from Music or should I say the studio was when I was 15 years old and I booked someone from my high school for a hour of studio time for $25 was probably the best feeling ever and that made me realize that I can really Make money in this field
Joseph, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Joseph Kay. I’m an artist/producer/audio engineer. I was born in Iran and moved to the US the year 2000. Started making money from music 2005 and never looked back again. I have worked with big artist like Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Mariah Cary, E40, 2 $hort and many many more.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I honestly think that local people don’t support each other enough. They start supporting artist once an artist is already doing things and has some typa motion which is not a good thing to me. I feel like if people got behind their community more we would have better indie artist out there.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Me coming to America the year 2000 and not speaking no English and Starting a buisness by 2005 should motivate other people to get up and chase they dreams.
