We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Joseph George a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, thanks for joining us today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?

On the international stage, several key factors have helped legitimize alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as an effective means of settling conflicts outside of court. Mediators and arbitrators are becoming increasingly more popular and specialized, taking on more complex cases, and developing more nuanced ADR techniques.

Joseph, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

The firm also offers other services that complement what we do. Such services included are loan signing, immigration form service,
notary service, and grant writing.

Joseph George is an intelligent and astute businessman with an innovative and motivational mindset. His passion for helping people shows in his body of work. He is an independent, full-time Supreme Court-appointed mediator and arbitrator. As an arbitrator, his role is to ensure the parties get a fair and effectively managed proceeding. His talents as a mediator, helps to guide the parties to a mutually satisfactory dispute settlement. The combination of his past industry experience in contract negotiations and his skills in crisis management makes him an ideal mediator or arbitrator for matters involving construction or employment, as well as complex business disputes. Both roles are crucial components in his position as a founding partner with the George & George ADR Group.

Mr. George is also, a certified HR professional and has extensive experience mediating and arbitrating disputes involving labor, employment, and civil rights claims under federal and Florida laws. As an employment and business law mediator, Mr. George helps assist in resolving business disputes productively and creatively. Mr. George is also an EEO Investigator where he investigates claims of discrimination against a person on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), or national origin, as well as Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).

As an EEO Investigator, he serves as an unbiased fact gatherer identifying and securing information through interviews of witnesses and review of written records. This information is compiled into a Report of Investigation (ROI), which must be thorough enough to enable an appointed decision maker to make a final decision as to whether unlawful employment discrimination occurred with regard to the claim(s) investigated.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

When it comes to growing my clientele is that I stay consistent and I leverage my marketing skills to do so. I use social media and write articles that complement my services. I also go to events and network at many conferences. Podcast invitations have helped me to reach other markets.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

I remember when I got out of mediation training and I started the firm I thought I would get referrals from the courts and attorneys but boy was I wrong. I had to figure out how to get clients to know about our firm. And that’s when I realize that I had to use my marketing skill to get clients in the door from an industry that does very little to no advertising. So I figured that I had to educate the public about mediation and arbitration by creating explainer videos and writing articles. Now our firm is growing and is welcoming new clients.
