We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Joseph Corella. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Joseph below.
Joseph, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I never imagined that I would be a group fitness instructor; it was a role I never envisioned for myself as a child. However, when the opportunity arose to teach a class for adults, I felt an undeniable pull in my heart to say yes. Stepping into that first group fitness class transformed my life in ways I never expected. In that moment, I realized my passion for guiding others in their journey to move, breathe, and care for their bodies and minds.
Teaching has not only empowered me to inspire others, but it has also allowed me to connect deeply with my authentic self. The journey has been nothing short of incredible, filled with growth, challenges, and joy. I’m immensely grateful that I took that leap of faith all those years ago. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that sometimes embracing the unexpected can lead to the most fulfilling paths. So, dare to say “yes” to new experiences—they may just change your life, too.
Joseph, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started dancing at the age of 7 in Phoenix, Arizona, a journey that opened my eyes to the incredible power of movement and self-expression. Over the years, this passion has taken me to unexpected places—performing on Broadway, going on national tours, performing in Las Vegas, film, and television.
Some of my most cherished memories include my Broadway debut in *All Shook Up*, dancing with Selena Gomez on *Wizards of Waverly Place*, and even performing alongside the iconic Dolly Parton in a movie musical. These experiences were not just career highlights; they were moments that ignited my love for storytelling.
But beyond performing, my deepest fulfillment comes from teaching. There’s something profoundly rewarding about guiding adults to discover their own capacity to move and take control of their health. Watching someone tap into their strength and find joy in exercise is what drives me. I believe that movement can be a powerful form of self-care, providing both physical benefits and a mental escape.
Every class I teach is a reminder that we all have the ability to connect our bodies and minds, embrace our creativity, and find our own rhythm, regardless of where we start. Exercise is not just about fitness; it’s about exploring, growing, and learning to celebrate who we are. It’s a journey we can all take together, one step at a time.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the most transformative lessons I’ve learned in my professional journey is the importance of following the signs that life presents. Even when the path ahead seems unclear, I’ve discovered that staying stagnant only holds us back. Embracing the unknown and letting go of what no longer serves us can lead to incredible opportunities and growth. When we release our grip on certainty, we often find that magic unfolds in the most unexpected ways. So, trust the process, embrace change, and watch as new doors open before you!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
One valuable lesson I’ve learned is the importance of taking the time to develop relationships. It’s easy to want to rush in and show what you can do, but real connections don’t happen overnight. Investing time in getting to know people not only helps you build a solid reputation but also fosters trust and respect. It’s a gradual process, but the payoff is worth it. Remember, the relationships you build today can open doors tomorrow, so be patient and stay genuine in your efforts.
