Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joseph Ballard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Joseph, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
When trying to come up with the name of our company, we wanted something that we could build a brand around. Typically the construction industry lacks creative branding and we wanted something that would describe what we do as well as draw more curiosity into the name. Constructed Matter was chosen to be both broad in nature to encompass all we design and construct.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I come from a background of design and hard work. From building designing and building custom homes in Minnesota out of college to flipping homes in the Phoenix area with other investors, Constructed Matter has molded itself into a full blown design build general contracting business. Along with my business partner, Brandon Fadden, we take construction projects from idea all the way through planning, design and build out. I am most proud of the high end detailed service that we can offer our clients through their projects. We try to remove the more painful parts of the construction projects through our process and ultimately put out a high quality modern build for our clients to enjoy. Anyone looking for interior design or design and construction services can reach out via our project inquiry form on the contact page of our website.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Constructed Matter has been around since 2014 and founded as a general contractor in Minnesota. Our audience was built through the design industry there by building relationships with others in the industry that were highly design focused. Project collaboration, crediting others appropriately and sharing others posts / successes online creates a great community and usually reciprocates back. Every now and then you get to be a part of a high profile project that gets a lot of attention online. One piece of advice for anyone looking to build an audience is that the number doesn’t matter. The number doesn’t value you or your business. Successful business and marketing can be had with a small number of followers.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
For us it’s simple. 1. Planning
2. Follow Through
If we do both of these at a high level referrals keep coming. The simple principle of ‘do what you say you will do’ is huge for us.
