We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Joseluis Robles. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Joseluis below.
Joseluis, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I had the incredible opportunity to train as a life coach under world-renowned hypnotherapist Marisa Peer, allowing me to offer sessions on behalf of her company. But when it came to creating children’s books, there was no prestigious school or formal training—I built my path from the ground up. I started with doodles, infused my stories with life coaching principles, and spent hundreds of hours learning through “YouTube University.”
Looking back, I would have invested more time and money into finding professionals to help streamline the technical aspects—website building, email marketing, and book formatting were grueling for someone whose true passion is simply to create and inspire. The most valuable skills I’ve developed are video editing, formatting, and writing compelling sales copy.
Time was my biggest challenge. Balancing family life, being a full-time student, and working full-time created immense pressure in the beginning. But through persistence and creativity, I found a way to make it work.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Joseluis Robles II, and I am a creator at heart. My love for poetry started in third grade when I wrote my first poem: *“Mom, I love you more than a wrestler loves to wrestle.”* From there, creativity became my language—doodles turned into short stories, lyrics scribbled on napkins led to freestyle rap sessions, and eventually, video editing and children’s book writing became part of my journey.
My entrepreneurial spirit kicked into high gear when I left the W-2 world to pursue commission-only work. But there was a moment when, after dropping my kids off at school, I sat paralyzed with anxiety. I hated my job in health insurance sales, and I knew I couldn’t keep living that way. That’s when I discovered life coaching—and I never looked back.
Now, I help creative professionals who feel stuck break free and pursue what truly fulfills them. I write children’s books and create digital products designed to help parents connect more deeply with their kids. I believe people should do what they love, not just what pays the bills. Life is too damn short to spend it dreading work. Our families deserve the best, most energized versions of us.
This year, I’m taking that passion a step further by donating a portion of my proceeds from book sales and consulting sessions to epilepsy nonprofits. It’s a cause close to my heart—I lost a cousin to a rare and severe form of epilepsy, and my oldest son battles it every day. But through it all, God continues to bless him with better and better days.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is taking that intangible *thing*—the idea stuck in your head—and bringing it to life. I used to think my favorite part of poetry was finishing a piece, but I’ve realized the real magic happens when I perform it out loud and connect with an audience.
One of the best feelings is seeing kids read my books, watching their smiles widen and hearing their laughter. Their minds and hearts deserve to be protected, and I like to think I play a small role in that through the stories I create.
Another surreal moment is pulling a beat or lyric from my head, recording it, and then hearing it fully mastered. That thing that once kept me up at night is now playing *to* the beat—or *is* the beat. There’s nothing quite like that feeling.
Have you ever had to pivot?
My entire journey has been a series of pivots. Fortunately, I’ve always trusted myself to learn what I needed and move forward.
While living in California, I thought working on the San Francisco Bay with Alcatraz Cruises was going to be my dream job. But then I asked myself, *“If I stay here for another 10 years, what’s the best possible outcome—and do I want to build my life around that?”* The answer was a clear and resounding *no*. So, despite earning highly respected Coast Guard credentials, I walked away and switched careers to become an electrical helper.
Once again, I asked myself the same question. And once again, I didn’t like the answer. I pivoted *ten* times in a single year. That level of inconsistency was exhausting, but it led me to a powerful realization: I needed to stop working for money and start working for purpose.
As a life coach and hypnotherapist, I’ve helped people break free from addictions, OCD, insomnia, self-worth struggles, and abusive relationships. Now, I’m expanding that passion into books and entertainment media. Every day, I look at life through the lens of *“What can I create today?”* Because at the end of the day, I live by two words: *Create and Inspire.*
