We were lucky to catch up with Jose Reyes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jose, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The project that has most profoundly moved me is El Vendaval Amarillo (The Yellow Windstorm). Set against the tumultuous backdrop of Venezuela’s 1938 oil boom, it was much more than just a creative endeavor—it was a journey into the very heart of human resilience. Immersing myself in that pivotal era, I explored how art can capture and preserve the raw, transformative power of history.
Every element of the project was designed to echo the struggles, hopes, and unwavering spirit of a people determined to rise above chaos. The overwhelmingly emotional response from audiences reinforced my belief that art has the power to unite us, to remind us of our shared past, and to inspire us toward a resilient future

Jose, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been acting since childhood, and my journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to education and craft. I’ve trained in acting schools to refine my skills and adapt to the industry’s evolving demands, ensuring that I am always ready to deliver compelling performances. While my foundation is in theater, where I’ve explored the full range of dramatic expression, I am actively expanding into television and cinema, eager to bring my presence to the screen.
What sets me apart is my versatility. I am a trained actor who comes prepared, ready to embody complex roles with precision and depth. Beyond acting, I dance, and I am currently exploring singing, making me adaptable for a variety of performance styles. Additionally, I speak Spanish, English, French, and Italian fluently, making me a strong candidate for multilingual projects—whether on stage, television, or film.
What I am most proud of is my relentless pursuit of my dreams, despite the challenges along the way. Leaving my home country and navigating new opportunities was no easy feat, but I committed myself to reeducating and refining my craft to meet American industry standards. Being signed with a local academy/agency marked a significant milestone in my career, allowing me to work, grow, and expand my reach. Seeing my commercials online is a testament to the journey I’ve taken, the effort I’ve put in, and the passion that drives me forward.
And to filmmakers like James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, Shonda Rhimes, Pedro Almodóvar, Guillermo del Toro, and Christopher Nolan—and all the creators shaping the industry—I just might be the missing piece in your next project. I admire your work, and I am fully available to create something meaningful together. (laughs)

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
At the heart of my creative journey is a mission to promote measurable empathy—encouraging audiences to embrace acceptance and understanding through storytelling. Whether on stage, in front of the camera, or through the content I create, I strive to bring characters and narratives to life in a way that resonates deeply with people.
Art has the power to break barriers, challenge perspectives, and foster human connection. My goal is to use my talent and platforms to make audiences feel—to see themselves in stories they may not have otherwise related to, to understand experiences beyond their own, and to walk away with a greater sense of empathy. If my work can inspire even a small shift in perception, then I know I’m fulfilling my purpose.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the profound impact that art can have on society. The ability to move people, challenge perspectives, and inspire empathy is a powerful responsibility—one that I embrace fully in my work. Seeing an audience connect with a performance, whether through laughter, tears, or reflection, is an irreplaceable feeling.
At the same time, the creative process itself is just as fulfilling. The sheer passion, devotion, and resourcefulness that go into bringing a project to life make the final product deeply meaningful. Often, great art is made with limited resources but unlimited heart, and that, to me, is what makes it so powerful.
