We were lucky to catch up with Jose Ortiz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jose, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
It all started back in middle school. I was very interested in art and found out while taking art classes that I had some talent. I continued with drawings and rendering using different media. After a couple years of just drawings and sketches I had this feeling that there was something more than just pencil and paper. It was Junior year in High school that I registered late for classes and when choosing an elective, fashion design was the only one left that had spots available. I was hesitant at first but decided to give it a try. After the first few classes a found out that being a designer was more than just clothes. It consisted of drawings and making the sketches a 3D work of art. I was so passionate about it that I wanted to learn more. I went of to college and had the opportunity to find what I was looking for. Ever since I have loved being a fshion designer and being able to create my own designs and help customers bring theirs to live as well.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Jose and I am the owner of Mozze. I am 30 years old and my hometown is Yuma, Az. I was born in Phoenix, AZ but spent most of my life in Yuma, AZ. I moved to Denver, CO around 7 years ago to continue my passion for fashion. I studied at the Art Institute of Denver for several years untill it closed down and I was not able to complete my Bachelors of Art.
My industry is a fshion brand. I have been sewing for over 13 years and really enjoy doing so. I startes of sewing outfits for friends and family and now I am dressing models for fashion shows. I’ve done several fashion shows around a few states like, Missouri, Colorado, California and New York.
What sets me apart from any other brand is my uniqueness. My inspiration comes from several forms including the environment with its living and not living organisms that are mystifying and powerful. My style is couture meets chic with an edge. Every collection I design is inspired my life itself. Either a past trauma or a beautiful memory.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative for myself is the joy I get from my customers and audience. How my work is able to transmit how much I enjoy designing. The happiness of every customer once they see there product completed. I enjoy seeing the customers getting more than what they imagined while doing custom work. There is nothing better and rewarding than that.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
There is one particular goal I have that drives my creative journey and that is being recognized around the world with my brand. Be able to share what I have with the peoe who are afraid to be who they are. To be able to show a statement with fashion.
