We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jose Germosen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jose below.
Alright, Jose thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
Honestly thinking about it, knowing what I know now I couldn’t have possibly started my career as a creative at an earlier time. While my creativity truly started from when I first gained consciousness, I had to live my life to learn what making it a career truly took. For context, I knew I wanted to start producing music in high school but my personality at the time couldn’t allow me to express my full creative self. I thought pretty low of myself, and while I did maintain a sense of confidence, a lot of it was false. It took a lot of soul searching and “digging” for me to realize my self worth. I finally started my music career going into 2020, since I was gifted FL Studio for Christmas. While it took a while, I started to put the pieces together and started being able to make real music. As time went on I got better and while I was happy with my progress at the time, I lacked something. I knew there was a piece to the puzzle that was missing. I always had an aptitude for photography, I was the toddler that would take good pictures by “accident”. It wasn’t until I acted as a creative director for the first time was when I realized what that puzzle piece was. I was watching my friend Kevin edit a music video and while I knew nothing in the technical aspect of editing, I could see where the cuts had to be and where transitions could take place. It was that moment that we realized we both had “The Vision” and since then Donned the term. Since picking the camera back up, I have been able to capture some beautiful moments and hope to expand The Vision so that the world might see the world as I do. It’s because of this that there’s no way I could have possibly have started my career earlier than I have. My Vision had to mature and I had to learn what it really is that I’m really living for. While I do sometimes envy those that find their calling at an earlier point in life, it’s then that I realize we all have our own timing. I’m starting to become very appreciative of mine.
Jose, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those that don’t know me, my name is Jose but I also go by Hose. I got the name from my friends teasing me when we were younger as people would sometimes mess up my name, but I started to embrace it and it brought me to where we are today. I am a music producer as well as a videographer/editor and have been doing so for about 3 years, with another 3 in my music career. What got me into music was firstly my family, everyone in my life as a child was musically inclined in some way. My father directed the church choir along with knowing how to play the piano, clarinet, guitar, and sing as well. My mother is a singer as well as a guitar player and my older brother is inclined in all three of the same instruments as my father. Even my younger brother played the drums at a point, so it was only right I get involved in the “family business”. Since I started, I’ve been able to provide quality instrumentals for artists, and also be able to provide a quality visual for their songs of choice. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve been able to stick to my roots and be able to use my God given talent in a way that can hopefully provide people with a reason to will themselves throughout the day. The main things I would want potential future clients to know is that I truly believe that the way my creativity flows is unique to me and myself only, and that it’s my goal to not only bring my vision to life but to complete the vision of everyone I can.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I believe that the most rewarding aspect in being a creative is the fact that I am able to create. I’ve realized that the way I think and the way I process things is something that not many people can comprehend, so it’s up to me to make it comprehensible and bring it to life. There are people out there who don’t have a creative bone in their body, so the fact that I can bring anything I think of to life is the thing I am most thankful for as a creative.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I have my own set of personal goals that I’d like to achieve in my creative career, a few being to be on stage at a music festival, direct a video for an A-list artist, so on and so forth. However when it comes to what drives my career, I simply want to change lives. For me great art changes the way I think about my everyday life, so I want to be able to possibly have that effect on someone else.
