Joscynthia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is deeply rooted in my decades-long dedication to enhancing beauty, empowering others, and fostering excellence in the beauty profession. My passion for education, entrepreneurship, and collaboration reflects a commitment to elevating the industry and nurturing the present and next generation of beauty professionals. After encountering individuals within the industry who lacked essential production knowledge and struggled with understanding crucial processes and documentation, I felt compelled to make a difference. I was exhausted with the confusion and disorganization that stemmed from working with people who were uninformed. This frustration fueled my desire to ensure that aspiring beauty professionals not only learn the practical skills of their craft but also acquire comprehensive knowledge of production processes, continuity, etiquette, and the importance of adhering to critical forms and sheets. By addressing these gaps in education, I aim to empower individuals to excel in their roles, contribute effectively to productions, and elevate the standards of professionalism within the beauty industry. My mission is meaningful because it embodies a lifelong pursuit of excellence, empowerment, and impact in the beauty industry, driven by a genuine desire to make a difference and leave a lasting legacy.

Joscynthia’s journey is a testament to her resilience, as she navigated through some of the most challenging times of her life while still pursuing her passion for the beauty industry and education. Initially working part-time behind the chair in a salon environment and in film and television, she faced physical health issues due to years of using tools and the demanding nature of the beauty profession.
In 2020, during one of the most critical times in history, Joscynthia underwent spinal surgery, only to receive devastating news shortly after: she had stage one breast cancer. With a newfound sense of purpose, Joscynthia turned to her love for education and her experiences in the industry. She decided to channel her knowledge and expertise into writing a book, drawing from years of journals, on-set experiences, and interactions with fellow professionals. Despite the obstacles, Joscynthia’s unwavering determination and commitment to making a difference drove her to publish her first book on Amazon Kindle, solidifying her legacy as an educator and leader in the beauty and film industry.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the notion that success in the beauty industry was solely reliant on portraying a facade of confidence and expertise, even when lacking genuine knowledge or experience. This misconception was rooted in the industry culture of “faking it till you make it,” where professionals often felt pressure to project an image of mastery regardless of their actual proficiency.
The backstory behind this lesson traces back to my early years in the industry, where I felt compelled to exude unwavering confidence and competence, even in situations where I lacked the necessary skills or expertise. I subscribed to the belief that admitting uncertainty or seeking guidance was a sign of weakness, fearing that it would undermine my credibility and diminish my prospects for success.
However, over time, I came to realize the inherent flaws in this mindset. I observed the detrimental impact of superficial confidence on both personal growth and professional relationships. By prioritizing appearance over substance, I found myself navigating situations with a sense of unease and insecurity, ultimately hindering my ability to truly excel in my craft.
Through introspection and experience, I gradually unlearned this ingrained lesson, recognizing the value of humility, authenticity, and vulnerability. I discovered that true success in the beauty industry stems from a genuine commitment to continuous learning, honest self-assessment, and open collaboration with peers and mentors.
By embracing this paradigm shift, I liberated myself from the constraints of artificial confidence and embraced a mindset grounded in authenticity and integrity. I learned to approach challenges with humility, acknowledging that true expertise is cultivated through a willingness to admit ignorance, seek guidance, and embrace opportunities for growth.
Ultimately, unlearning the lesson of “faking it till you make it” allowed me to cultivate a deeper sense of confidence rooted in genuine knowledge, skill, and self-awareness. It liberated me to forge authentic connections, pursue meaningful collaborations, and embark on a journey of continuous improvement and professional fulfillment within the beauty industry.
