Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jorja Gust. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jorja thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I was a senior in college, two semesters away from becoming a teacher, and I decided to change my major and go a route where I felt called- write and become an author.
Like many of us, we have had a dream of becoming something since we were little. When I grew up, I wanted to be a teacher. I told everyone I knew that this is what I was going to be, I had connections, assurance, and so many things lined up that I would be silly to say “no” to teach. But I did! Believe me, no one understood why I decided to give up my childhood dream, but I knew. I knew where God was calling me was to speak and write life onto pages to encourage them in their walk with the Lord during their college season of life.
Since taking that risk, I have seen why God was calling me to do it in the first place. I have seen my self-published book flourish, I have become more titles like Podcaster, Tiktoker, and Christian Influencer, and I am still teaching, but just in a different way.
My advice to you… take the risk! You never know whats on the other side unless you do it.

Jorja , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
In any market, there has to be something about you that makes you stand out from the rest. It could be your energetic personality, your wisdom when it comes to business and understanding, the way you can capture the attention of an audience, or even your voice in the words you type or how you deliver a speech. Everyone has something different to bring to the table, but I believe God gives each of us gifts that makes us different and unique from one another. For me, I think it is my joy. When I speak, write, or produce, I want the viewers and readers to feel the joy of Jesus that He has given me.
Everyone wants to be encouraged and that’s what I do for His glory. I encourage people based off of scripture and that is how I have been able to pop up on your bookshelf or maybe on your For You Page.
If you are trying to build a reputation, it sounds cliche, but be yourself. There is no one like you, no one has the gifts you have, and believe me, that’s on purpose.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
For my friends who are trying to build your social media following, I would encourage you to be real.
About two years ago, I was listening to Sadie Robertson’s podcast and she said “no one relates to perfect.” That really stuck with me, because on social media, I feel like in this day and age, that’s all we strive to be. Have the perfect picture, the viral tiktok, be the “next big thing”, and so on.
Being perfect is not possible, so why are we striving for it? God made you in the way He saw best fit. Believe that!
