We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jorge Rangel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jorge below.
Jorge, appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Taking a risk is what I relate to the most out of these topics. I spent 10 years in the factory world working as a welder, assembly line employee, and working anywhere from 12 to 16 hour shifts 40 to 60 hours a week. I’ve been a Forktruck driver, worked at a furniture company and nothing felt like I belonged… I had a life-changing experience where I nosebleed unexpectedly for about a year at random times, I was let go from my job for that reason since I ran out of vacation time, I used all the funds I had put aside and dove deep into video and photo, it was always a hobby I had and at this time I was going to make it my full-time career. That tragedy led me to where I am today, otherwise I might’ve never jumped.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I work in the media production world, I mainly work with businesses and need content for social media, marketing, purpose purposes or simply to show the clients what they’re about and why they should trust them.
Aside from this, I also like to make informative sales tactic videos, where I share some experiences, outreach methods, and now will be getting into digital products that will make life easier as a creator.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Like most of us when we start shooting video or anything with photos, we mostly start with music videos. that was a passion of mine, but I quickly realize I had to pivot out of there and work with businesses who had a real budget, and I had an actual chance of growing with. I have not been able to shoot some of the countries, most respected conventions and have worked on some projects for some major brands. ( some involve NDA’s. And that tells you a little bit)

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
It was definitely my side hustle, I come from a graphic design background and early on,I was making T-shirts and logos for people who needed them.. I then transitioned into photography. Once my group of friends started a music group, and we went around the country opening up from major acts, somebody had to be the cameraman, and that was me. Once they put that down and everybody went their separate ways I realized I had a passion for video and photo and I was really good at it, I started working on my own side hustle while maintaining my factory job and quickly realized I had lost out on thousands of dollars while standing at my job because I could only shoot Saturday and Sunday… I had a medical mishap that got me fired and that’s when I had to jump as soon as I recovered to 100%
