We were lucky to catch up with Jorge Estrano recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jorge, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I have always been self-taught when it comes to art, it is a form that I really enjoy. Learn and see beyond. I don’t change anything I’ve learned, because it’s what has gotten me to where I am right now. One of the skills that have helped me on this path is the way I manage to organize myself to achieve a goal, the flexibility I have to adapt and that curiosity that always leads me to see further. Like every human being, I have faced many obstacles, one of them is purchasing power, which has been very difficult at all times, but I have managed to acquire tools that help me stay on my feet.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Something that I really enjoy is Photography, I like to think and confirm that I freeze moments to make them eternal, giving everyone a memory that will bring them to that moment and make them relive that moment, it is one of my passions. I love when people tell me that they want everything to be as good as possible so they can keep it and treasure it. As a psychologist and sexologist, I enjoy giving tools to my patients, granting them the ability to continue walking a path that for some is not easy. In general terms, this way I see and enjoy what I do is what helps me help others so they can achieve everything that each one is capable of doing in life.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Something that I missed, or that I was forced to miss, was leaving my country behind because of the way it was being handled politically and economically. It was a stage where continuing to value and appreciate my life was not negotiable under any circumstances. Starting from scratch is hard, it is a path that is often full of obstacles, but my resilience helps me overcome it.
I have learned a lot throughout this journey, and I continue to learn every day. But, something that I can share with great pride with readers or invite them to do is, dare to be and do what gives you pleasure and enjoy the process. Finding yourself again is not easy, but the only way to know is to face it.
Fear paralyzes, but it also gives you a tool that few put into practice and that is to see how capable you are of realizing and completing a dream. So live free of prejudices and don’t let others tell you what you should do, taking risks is the best option.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
As a creative/artist, one of the things that means the most to me is creating something that will last forever. People appreciate having something on hand that makes them remember wonderful moments.
I greatly appreciate having that ability to value and appreciate those details and share them with everyone.
