We were lucky to catch up with Jorge Diaz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jorge, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Day to day the world can seem like a tough place, but there’s also so much kindness in the world and we think talking about that kindness helps spread it and make the world a nicer, kinder place. Can you share a story of a time when someone did something really kind for you?
on the day of my first ever pop up market, I was very nervous, stressed, and I was a bit behind on sleep, (I made all my product for that market the day and night before) I showed up to the place without many display stands, but I did my set up, some of my items didn’t fit so I was putting them away, but the girl next to me came to me and offered to let me use the extra space she had on her table, then she moved some stuff around to make sure I had enough space to display all of me things I had for that day, since that day she has been one of my biggest supporters.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hello I’m Jorge and during the first months of 2020 while while I had a lot of free time and depression, I decided to get me a cricut machine and give it a try, because well, I wasn’t allowed to leave the house. Many Youtube videos later I felt comfortable enough to start trying, and let me tell you those videos make it look was too easy.
we offer logo correction, design and refresher for my clients. as well as guidance with how to keep track of finances, expenses and permits.

One of the things I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come, from where I started, and how much I’ve helped other business start or grow. because there is enough room for all of us to grow.
We are a LGBTQIA+ and Latino owned and operated brand, that promotes culture, love, and respect.
We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process./
as mentioned before, I started with just a cricut machine and my personal iron, that is how i started manufacturing my products. the second machine I purchased was a laser cutter, and let me tell you i made so many mistakes, I somehow almost started a fire on my ceiling once. took me hours and hours to understand the settings for the machine, but finally got it.
my embroidery machine was the same way I purchased the machine without knowing I had to purchase software to be able to create my designs later on. i had never used an embroidery machine and let me tell you this one was a challenge, but now I’m so proud of how much I’ve learned and how easy i made it look.
with that being said, yes all my products are made in house.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
at the time I started LemonDesign25 it was only a hobby, and it was fun, I would do it after work and sometimes I would get so into the craft that I would spend hours upon hours without even noticing, I then started doing pop up markets every weekend, and oh my it was fun, but it was taking so much time to prep that I felt I wasn’t performing 100% at my job or my side hustle, so it was time to make a decision, I could stay working for a corporation that will replace me as soon as I’m no longer useful or I could go full time on my Lemon and give it a try. and here we are 1 year as a full time job and thriving.
