We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jorge Bueno Jr a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jorge, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
From an idea, Creating my own clothing to taking business trips for technical training to Florida on embroidery machines to building an embroidery business from scratch, It has become a passion. Digitizing logos, embroidering on garments, witnessing day to day happy family and friends receiving their custom order. Doubts flooded the area, an idea has come about changing the game on creating clothing. Working with new people day to day inspired me to take more risks on my dream goals. The best opportunity was presented so I took the leap of faith forward and got straight to work. Day and night working on the machine and digitizing program was tough, prep garments to be tested then finalized to be printed. 2024 will be the year I connect more with my community on strategies to better advertise on garments. I Appreciate who supported Bueno Embroidery, they’re who help me through my journey, Family and friends are my biggest supporters.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Jorge Bueno Jr is the name, custom is the game. I was born and raised in Detroit Michigan, where Fashion, Music and Art is what sets Detroit apart from other cities. Everyone in the city wants to wear the latest and greatest, An idea came to mind 3 years ago to be able to create sustainable gear with art printed onto other new or upcycled garments! I am big on details so I provide high quality embroidered prints for personal or business needs! I work close with customers on figuring out their vision to create their custom one of a kind clothing! I focus on the relationship I build with local people from family to business, from barbers and construction workers to grandmothers custom needs and custom clothing for children. The ideas are endless, we can brainstorm and manifest and then create the magic! Next step is to be provide our services and more from one city to the next.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Having the thought of any idea back firing or Being afraid of change was something I struggled with, Every opinion that was said flustered my head, crazy scenarios. Only negative comments people would say, Ignore the side tracks and move forward. Can you improve if you take a risk then why not, one step away from your dream goal. Keep the spirit alive don’t give up! You’ll have a weird gut feeling at times it’s telling you take a chance and you won’t regret it. You will give yourself a chance to express freely and progress in every aspect.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Get in the most that you can in the time frame you have, is my go to. Working a union job and running a business isn’t easy but you have to be maintain a good pace throughout your day. 17 hours a day I spend working, in fact I know a few other entrepreneurs that run that same schedule. Figure out a good system and stuck with it. Good diet, give yourself snack breaks to rest your mind and alternate throughout your day, good portion meals everyday also Staying hydrated. Push until you no longer need to be employee for corporate. Keep a positive mind set of your goal and don’t look back! You’re one step closer!
