Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jordyn Tourville Hernandez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jordyn , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you find your key vendor or vendors? Maybe you can share the backstory and share some context and the relevant details to help us understand why you chose them, why they chose you, etc.
You can find plenty of events happening that offer spots for vendors. I do a lot of seeking out opportunities online. After that, I made contact to see if I could apply to become a vendor at the location of the event. Time is everything, as spots fill up fast. What is meant for me will be for me. I keep that thought in mind so I do not become discouraged, because you simply cannot land every deal you attempt to make and that is OKAY! Being in close with the community is really helpful when it comes to insight of other opportunities that may become available so you can try to get ahead of the game!
Jordyn , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My brand and business is based on healing and learning. I create things to make other souls get in-touch with their inner self. Things that make people feel something because that is what life is all about. These things help accommodate with self healing, self help, self teaching, self growing, motivating, and more. I create things that can be made custom to match the soul seeking certain qualities in the items I hand make.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I sell online from a simple website creator platform that allows me to sell and display all the things I create. It is simple to utilize and order from. As an online shopper myself I like things to be clearly explained and displayed, which is why I went with the website creator company I am using for now. I own my domain name and just pay a monthly fee for the website to be publish and stay that way. Maybe one day in the future when my business becomes larger scaled and more profitable, I can look into more simpler options like Amazon.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn trying to move too quickly with my business. This is why a lot of them can fail, besides poor planning and marketing. By becoming more patient, I have learned to not become unmotivated and I am able to keep the ideas flowing of what I am going to do next. Motivating yourself is a big challenge to deal with, often times you can feel like giving up.
