We recently connected with Jordyn Cifone and have shared our conversation below.
Jordyn, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I definitely knew I wanted to be connected with social media in someway shape or form. I’m now 25, since I was 15 I always got told I resembled Kylie Jenner, so I bought her very first lip kit when it was just LipKitByKylie I remember I got the shade Posie K, and then when she dropped one of her first eyeshadows the Burgundy palette i got that as well, then I decided to launch my makeup page.. I started diving into makeup really when I was 15! I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup yet so I would just play around in my room and one day I decided to post the look I made using Kylie’s palette and never in a million years did I expect her team to see it! To get a compliment on your makeup from Kylie’s makeup team? That really made me feel like I had something special that I felt that I needed to share with the world, after that I got hired at Sephora! and I got to meet representatives from brands like Milk Makeup, to Makeup forever! I was learning something new everyday, I had customers constantly complimenting my makeup and asking me if I had a page or a TikTok! And I would always give my social media, I knew that makeup and modeling was my outlet, I feel a sense of comfort in front of a camera. Everyday on social media you can learn so many different things the possibilities are endless! Theres so much inspiration from watching others and I would really love for one day, even if its one person finds inspiration from something I have done.

Jordyn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Jordyn Cifone I’m a 25 year old from Nyack New York and I’m what they consider a “ Social Media Influencer “/ Makeup Artist. I make content on social media and I have been for a few years now! Not only do I make beauty content, I also make lifestyle videos and vlogs. I always was that kid who would record and take pictures of everything, if there’s a camera I’m posing! Ever since I was a little girl I just loved to be the center of attention, I’d put on these performances in front of my family, especially my mom! I started by making short films on YouTube with my cousins and that started when I was like 7! And back then I felt like I was on the big screen and that big screen being YouTube and I was just so proud we had 70 subscribers! That felt like 70,000 to me! I really would’ve never found my love for makeup if it wasn’t for my mom, I remember from a very young age watching her do her makeup, she would always have this beautiful brown lip liner and always had a signature color lip! It was always this deep beautiful brownish red, I was just amazed seeing what a little bit of lipstick can do to a person! My mom is absolutely beautiful so she didn’t need pounds and pounds of makeup and that’s something she always taught me, always made me remember that I was beautiful without makeup and I think that’s something that’s extremely important especially for girls in our generation now, that they know that the true beauty comes from the inside! I see girls nowadays putting on pounds of makeup because our society has made us women feel like if we don’t have makeup on; we aren’t “ put together “ or we’re “ sloppy “ and that’s another reason why I wanted to step into social media because I wanna break that cycle; I want girls not just girls I want every single human being to feel beautiful without needing makeup, I like to keep my content raw and real: if im having a bad day due to my anxiety I want people to see that and I want people to see that they aren’t alone and even if a one minute video can make a difference to someone that’s what’s important to me, not the view or like count. I think what sets me apart from other people is my realness and keeping it raw, most influential people now don’t keep it real and that’s something personally is so hard to find nowadays, I couldn’t find a guru I could trust without affiliate codes, too keep it real about a product, I want people to be able to trust what I say and to believe what im saying about a product is nothing but the truth! if I don’t like a product, I’m going to say it, I don’t care if someone offered me 100,000 I’m not going to lie about a product and I’m certainly not gonna lie to my audience, I want to build a trust with them and the first thing when you’re building a bond with someone is trust. Also, it makes me feel really good when someone tells me my opinion help them my suggestions help them that’s what’s most important also to me that’s what makes me happy and that’s one of the most amazing things about being in this field. Social media not only is it an escape for me, I know it is for others. It’s like when I turn the camera on and I’m talking. I forget about everything that’s going on and I’m focused. I’m talking to the audience. It’s almost therapeutic in a sense. I want people to know about me that I’m more than just a girl who loves to do makeup and wants to model. I’m also extremely funny, smart and currently getting my diploma so I can become a special education teacher. I wanna be able to inspire, and be influential. When people watch my content, I want them to laugh. I want them to relate with what I’m saying.. I want them to feel like they’re watching a friend more than they’re just watching a stranger. I don’t wanna be like every other makeup girl out there! I wanna show the world what im possible of and I know the impact that I wanna make on this industry.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
A story that definitely illustrates my resilience is my epilepsy 100%. I was 16 when I was diagnosed still in high school and I remember just the fear of what happens if I’m in school and this happens? I remember my mom just constantly having to calm me down because that is one of the worst fears. I have even to this day being afraid to leave your own house because you’re afraid of having a seizure. It is the worst anxiety and I kind of felt not kind of but I felt like I was 100% mistreated due to my health, not only was, I kicked out of my high school due to having a seizure, but to wake up with all of these students around you holding their phones and recording you just talking laughing I will never forget that moment I so embarrassed, and I just remember never wanting to show my face again little did I know the next day I would be told I wouldn’t be able to graduate because I’m a safety hazard. I didn’t know that having epilepsy would have me kicked out of high school and have my diploma ripped from me.. and ever since then I knew I had to be the voice for some people because I know there’s people that are afraid to speak up., and I went on a podcast and spoke up, not only about my epilepsy, but the abuse I had to deal with going to a secondary school due to my epilepsy. I mean on the first day of school somebody committed suicide. I still have PTSD from this.. but before I did that podcast, there were so many other people that had went through worse than what I dealt with, but were too scared of either being hurt or sued.. and an old student reached out to me who hosts the podcast and asked if I would be willing to speak my story and that’s exactly what I did. My story ended up getting traction and helping some of the students that didn’t get help. The first time they asked the fact that my story helped kids come out and be able to speak safely on what happened to them was the reason why I had the courage and bravery to do it in the first place. I helped so many parents just by doing that so I knew if I helped people by just doing that what else could I do?

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
My view on NFT’s, If it’s helpful to people, I do not see a problem, but if it’s harmful to people, then I see a problem. NFTs are helpful for ownership, but there’s always that side which could be fraud, etc.
