We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jordin Toomer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jordin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I feel like having owning a business in general is a big risk, everything is in your hands. When you have your business it’s easy to want to give up at any given time for any reason but you have to stay positive and consistent. The biggest thing for me to do is not give up. Being in a field of cosmetology and entrepreneurship you may have your slow days and weeks. You may even have days with no money coming in and it’s rough. It makes you want to give up and change career paths but to never give up is key

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Jordin Toomer I’m a lash technician who is also in the world of beauty. I love making others feel beautiful and find their beauty no matter which form that may be in. I also give advice and promote well being and self care . My lashing journey has been around for 4-5 years now and counting. I’m hoping to expand that brand and be more than that within the next few months to years. I make sure I put the the health and educational benefits and well being of my clients first. Every service is costumed to that individual client and what is best for them.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
I never really wanted to work a 9-5 job it was “me”. For a while I worked at a beauty store but I did not like it at all. But it helped me get more clientele and get to know more people. At some point of me working there it started to interview with my lash career. I was either too tired or over scheduling getting in the way of me being able to do lashes and actually focus on me and what I wanted to do. Eventually I quit it was a good decision I was happier and could focus on myself and my business.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I make sure to have a good head on my shoulders and good customer service will take you a long way. People like to be around others that make them feel good. I feel like that’s what brings clients back.
