Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jordi B. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jordi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Thank you for having me…I recently curated a deeply revealing solo exhibition centered around the theme of mental health. This exhibition was a personal journey where I portrayed myself during a period of depression. The main objective was to shed light on mental health issues that are often overlooked in our society. I aimed to normalize the experience of depression and emphasize that it’s perfectly okay to grapple with such emotions, even if, from an external perspective, your life appears flawless.
For several months, I found myself in the grip of depression, all while maintaining a vibrant external life. During this time, I continued to host galleries, revel in nightlife, and benefit from the unwavering support of my amazing husband. Yet, despite these seemingly idyllic circumstances, the persistent weight of depression remained. This internal struggle ultimately fueled my determination to create this exhibition.
The exhibition was held in a small, intimate gallery in Culver City, Los Angeles called Azzizart. Attendees felt a strong connection to the artworks, with some even moved to tears. The entrance featured a striking white paper “carpet” adorned with phrases that I had often whispered to myself during my depressive episodes. Phrases like “Everything is pointless”, “I will never be good enough” and “I’m a burden to my loved ones” confronted visitors right from the start. It was an incredible honor to be able to express these sentiments and, in doing so, foster an environment of acceptance and validation.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, I’m Jordi B, an accomplished multi-media artist with an unconventional journey that spans the globe. Originally from Israel, I set out on a life-altering adventure at the age of 20, venturing to the far reaches of the East. My travels took me through India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Laos, and Taiwan, where I delved into local cultures, lived as a native, and sought guidance from talented artists. These immersive experiences left an indelible mark on my perspective.
Upon my return to Israel, I continued to evolve as an artist. I was particularly influenced by my time in Greece, where I acquired a mentor who instilled in me the values of resilience and perseverance. My artistic journey also took me to Italy, where I honed my tattooing skills in various studios.
I then circled back to Thailand, seizing the opportunity to tattoo in bustling cities like Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and even managing a studio for a period. My European exploration included stops in France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Bulgaria, and Greece, each destination enriching my artistic vision.
Eventually, I found my way to the United States, driven by connections I had cultivated along the way. Los Angeles became my canvas, and I’ve had the privilege of hosting several galleries, including ones in West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and DTLA. My work isn’t confined to galleries; I’ve also tattooed at numerous parties, primarily within the LGBTQ community.
I currently call West Hollywood home and am deeply involved in the vibrant LGBTQ vibes of the area. I pride myself on fostering artistic spaces that resonate with people from all walks of life.
As an artist, I specialize in creating captivating paintings, often centered around the timeless beauty of female figures. These pieces allow me to celebrate the inherent strength, grace, and resilience of women. My art is a testament to my profound appreciation for humanity’s inherent goodness, influenced by the open-minded outlook I’ve cultivated through my travels.
Beyond my artistic pursuits, I’m a passionate advocate for women’s rights and empowerment. I’m proud to announce my upcoming event on September 26th, titled “Woman. Life. Freedom – Zan. Zendegi. Azadi.” This fundraiser for women’s rights will be held at “Upper West” restaurant in Santa Monica, marking a significant milestone in my commitment to the cause.
What sets me apart is the authentic connections I forge with my clients, going beyond the conventional artist-client relationship. It’s not uncommon for me to share a drink or meal with clients after a tattoo session, and my client retention rate is truly exceptional.
In essence, I want potential clients, followers, and fans to understand that my art is a reflection of my zest for life and my unwavering dedication to advocating for positive change. Whether it’s through my paintings, events, or my involvement in the LGBTQ community, I aspire to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness and champion the boundless beauty found within themselves and others.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative, for me, lies in the profound opportunity for self-expression. Through my art, I can convey my deepest thoughts, emotions, and perspectives to the world. It serves as a channel for my innermost feelings and beliefs.
Equally rewarding is the ability to connect with others through my work. Art has an incredible capacity to transcend language and cultural barriers. When someone resonates with my art, it creates a unique connection, a shared understanding that often goes beyond words. These connections are like bridges between diverse individuals, fostering a sense of unity and shared experiences.
Moreover, the process of creation and artistic exploration allows me to continually learn and grow. It’s a journey of self-discovery and personal development. The people I encounter along this artistic odyssey are often fascinating, each with their own stories and perspectives. These interactions enrich my understanding of the world and teach me things I may not have otherwise known.
Ultimately, being an artist is not just about creating visually appealing pieces; it’s about creating a deeper connection, sparking emotions, and inspiring others. It’s a journey of exploration, both within myself and with those who engage with my work, and that, to me, is the most rewarding aspect of it all.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Certainly, there was a significant pivot in my career during the onset of COVID-19. Before the pandemic, my primary profession was tattooing, and it was my primary source of income. However, when COVID-19 struck, the tattooing industry was heavily impacted. The prolonged periods of lockdown and restrictions meant that I couldn’t continue with my tattoo work.
During those initial uncertain days, I found myself at home, contemplating how to navigate this new reality. It was then that I decided to rekindle my roots as a traditional artist. You see, I had been an artist long before I transitioned into tattooing. Yet, in the early stages of my journey, I discovered that making a sustainable living solely from art was a formidable challenge. This realization eventually led me to become a tattoo artist, where I could merge my passion for art with a more stable income stream.
With the pandemic shutting down tattoo studios, I saw an opportunity to revisit my artistic roots and explore the online art market. It was a blessing in disguise, allowing me to shift my focus back to my traditional art forms. I began offering my paintings and designs online, from prints and T-shirts to acrylic paintings. This pivot, born out of necessity, helped me not only sustain myself during the challenging times but also allowed me to reconnect with my artistic passion.
In hindsight, this period of adaptation enabled me to develop and expand my online art business. I learned the value of diversifying my creative outlets and adapting to changing circumstances, reminding me that, as an artist, creativity knows no bounds, even in the face of adversity.
