Jordana , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
The definition of success is subjective and can vary based on an individual’s values, goals, and aspirations. With that said, I believe there are a few keys in order to become successful. For one, setting clear and achievable goals is essential, as it provides a roadmap for progress and allows one to track their success. Additionally, perseverance and hard work are crucial, as success rarely comes overnight. Consistent effort and dedication to one’s craft are necessary to improve and stand out in a competitive industry. Building a strong network of supporters and mentors can also provide valuable guidance and opportunities for growth. Finally, having a strong sense of self-awareness and a willingness to learn and adapt is essential for continued success. In the artistic world, it’s essential to have a unique voice and perspective, but also to remain open to feedback and constructive criticism to refine one’s craft. By embodying these qualities, individuals can increase their chances of success both in life and as an artist. I believe that I am successful today because I have followed my passion and committed myself to it. Despite having a natural inclination towards art, I never pursued it beyond school. However, the pandemic gave me an unexpected opportunity to reconnect with my passion. At the age of 15, with more free time on my hands, I decided to fully commit myself to art. What began as a distraction from the world soon became a way to express myself and a source of fulfillment. Spending countless hours experimenting with new techniques and styles, I began to hone my craft. Over time, art became more than just a hobby for me. It became a way of life, and I found joy and satisfaction in it every day. I poured my heart and soul into my work, constantly pushing myself to improve and create new pieces. Through dedication and hard work, I was able to develop my own unique style, which began to catch the attention of others. Soon, I started to receive commissions and sell my work to collectors. It was a humbling experience to see my art appreciated by others, and it further fueled my passion and drive to continue creating. My story is a testament to the power of hard work, perseverance, and pursuing one’s passion. As a high school student, I was able to find success in doing what I loved, and today, as a college student, I continue to pursue my passion for art with the same dedication and enthusiasm. I believe that anyone can achieve success if they commit themselves to their passions and work hard to achieve their goals.
Jordana , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Bio: Jordana Hanono is a nineteen-year-old artist based in New York. Her passion for art began at an early age, where she originally started with drawings of family members and simple objects. She attended a summer program at the School of Visual Arts in 2019, where she was introduced to nude drawing and painting, which characterizes much of her work today. Recently, Hanono has been experimenting with creating images using crystal mosaics. Despite painstakingly placing each crystal one at a time, she enjoys the medium because it allows for a very granular control over the piece’s coloration and detail. Hanono has also experimented with pop art, realism and abstract art as well. Her work has been displayed in various galleries, including David Rosen Galleries, Gallery Mavruk, Wentworth Gallery, and New Area Art Gallery. In addition to displaying at galleries, Hanono has also displayed her work in various art shows such as Aqua art, NyNow show, Philadelphia art craft show, and Mixing Identities: Venice show and Art Expo. Jordana Hanono has also achieved a significant milestone in her career: owning her own gallery. She uses her own gallery to represent herself during the shows listed.
For me success isn’t just about creating art but also sharing it with others. I take great pride in knowing that my work is appreciated and enjoyed by others, especially when it’s displayed in their homes as it allows my creativity to reach a wider audience. There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing that my work has brought joy and inspiration into the lives of others.
My artwork is more than just a product to be sold or displayed in a gallery; it is a form of personal expression and a reflection of my inner self. Each piece is like a page in a diary, capturing a moment or emotion that I want to share with the world. My work is deeply personal and reflects my experiences, thoughts, and emotions. It is a way for me to communicate and connect with others on a deeper level, as well as a way to explore and express my own identity. My pieces are very dear to me, each one holding a special place in my heart as a unique and personal form of self-expression. My artwork is a way to share a part of myself with the world, and I am proud to see it resonate with others in their own ways.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
My family has been an essential source of support for my artistic pursuits right from the start. They recognized my talent and passion for art and were eager to help me in any way possible. My parents were the first to offer their support by helping me purchase supplies and setting up a small studio space at home. My grandmother was also an avid supporter, as she was the first person to purchase one of my paintings, giving me the encouragement I needed to keep creating. My family provided me with the financial support , emotional support and encouragement I needed to pursue my dreams, and I am grateful for their unwavering aid. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Creating personal relationships within the art world is essential for artists to establish themselves and succeed. My ability to connect with my clients and collectors on a personal level has been a crucial factor in my success. I understand the importance of building genuine relationships with my clients, which not only creates trust and loyalty but also enhances the value of my work. By developing strong bonds with my clients, I am able to understand their preferences as well. I have also been able to tap into my clients’ networks, generating new leads and opportunities for my work. In the art world, personal connections can make all the difference, and my ability to create and maintain them has been a significant factor in my growth and success as an artist.
