We were lucky to catch up with Jordan Yasgoor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan, appreciate you joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Hi! Of course, happy to be here. My name is Jordan Yasgoor, the founder of Bud & Rose Shop. I wanted to bring my own passion for art and decorative objects to the cannabis space, and wanted to conceive of a unique offering to marry the two. So, in 2021, Bud & Rose was born.
We are a small (but mighty), female-founded business that crafts unique smoking accessories that are meant to be collected as art—designed to be displayed without the negative stigma often associated with cannabis.
Like so many other founders, the idea arose during lockdown. Being at home during the pandemic, I was craving an outlet for my creativity, feeling like I didn’t have the space or outlet for what I longed to create. I woke up one morning wanting to do more than what I’d done before. I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to create something tangible. I wanted to turn my dream into a marketable business. But, I had my own hesitations. I questioned myself: “what am I good at?”
I wandered around my house, thinking about everything that I relied on in my space. What did I need? What did I love having around? What brought me joy? And in that moment, an old bong on our coffee table caught my eye. My gut instinct was to put it away—I hated the way it looked. But that was the thing. It didn’t have to be that way. I wanted to create something that was both functional and beautiful, a conversation starter that you could leave out. I wanted to bring a certain aesthetic to smoking, bringing beauty to a space that can bring so much good to so many people.
As a regular cannabis user, I was always so disheartened by the negative stigma that so many attach to cannabis use, even despite its legalization. For me and my own health issues, it’s brought relief and calm when nothing else could. For nearly a decade, it’s served as a small savior when it came to my own wellbeing and I want to be a part of the change that begins to view cannabis use the same way. Bud & Rose is part of that journey in a way that still excites me. As the industry continues to change and evolve, it’s exciting to see how the company can continue to grow and bring a bit of the art I love into so many new people’s homes.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Jordan Yasgoor and I started Bud & Rose. We’re a female owned small business based out of Los Angeles, specializing in one of a kind smoking accessories for your home that are meant to be kept out, used, and celebrated as pieces of art.
I can proudly say that each and every time a new person sees Bud & Rose whether it’s in person or online, has their jaw dropped to the floor, in awe of each piece’s individuality and beauty. It’s that look of astonishment that keeps me going and to keep producing amazing pieces for our collections.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
When you’re starting a business as a creative, it’s easy to ignore the concept of running a company as well. When it comes to financials, I must transparently admit that I’m horrible with it. The thought of budgeting, crunching numbers, and paying bills gives anybody anxiety, right? It was really the only thing holding me back at the beginning. I was nervous that one wrong move would mean Bud & Rose failed and that I was too naive to understand why.
Ultimately, it took figuring out what is right for ME and MY business and how I want to run it for me to feel comfortable with the financials. Instead of looking at how others run their company’s finances and comparing myself to those practices, I decided to work slowly and figure it out myself on my own time. I didn’t want to be in debt or owe other people interest of my own business, so I slowly started funding the business myself. Every couple of weeks dropping some extra change into the business was how I started to create a little cushion. After a year or so, I felt way more confident in my financials than I had in the first month or so. It’s all about going to the beat of your own drum and running the company how you think it should be handled.
