Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jordan Von Lange. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jordan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
I grew up in Baltimore, MD and was the oldest of four children. My parents were loving, encouraging, confident, supportive and they valued celebrating the big and little feats in our lives. Not only were they a couple I admired to one day emulate in my future relationships, but now, as a recent bride, I look forward to using their relationship as an inspiration in my marriage.
Growing up, my mom was the “hostess with the mostess”. She threw amazing parties; from Halloween bashes to themed birthday parties to baptism and graduation celebrations. She was creative, had incredible attention-to-detail, and knew how to work a room (she still IS and does!) but as a young, formidable child, those qualities really stuck out to me. Not only did this spark my career in event planning, but the way she and my dad ensured we felt special for every holiday, birthday, sports game win, and even just celebrating the small stuff, inspired me to do the same. It’s the reason my company motto is, “The more you celebrate in life, the more there is to celebrate” by Oprah Winfrey.
Jordan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an event planner based in the DMV area with a small team specializing in wedding coordination. We thrive on organization and logistics and look forward to jumping in to help our clients tie everything up in a big bow about a month before their big day. We are proud to be almost solely a referral-only business and are lucky to have amazing clients who trust us to make their day go off without a hitch!
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
From the moment I started my business, I knew I wanted to keep my person and business Instagram just one account. I know this can be taboo in the marketing industry, but I felt it was important that my clients knew who I was as a person before (during & after) they booked me. I value my relationships and future friendships with my clients and have experienced that the clients I truly vibe with are the ones that trust me the most to do my job and are the ones I still keep in touch with today. Having a true bond with a client is much more important to me than booking a ton of clients that might not be a good fit.
I try my best to keep my Instagram fun, true to who I am, and provide a good mix of personal and business posts.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Enthusiasm and willingness to learn and meet new people, trust, and confidence!
