We were lucky to catch up with Jordan Taylor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jordan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
Jordan’s Virtual Desk came to life fueled by my passion for creative design and providing services that could benefit businesses and uplift the creative individuals behind them – driving them forward with the goal of connecting them with their audience. January 27, 2022, was the exact date that I started to visualize my business along with how I could accomplish my overall passion and goals. The month prior – I had just finished my last semester of college where I spent most of my time during the global coronavirus pandemic. At the time graduating at 17, which is considered a unique and transitional phase in life – was a pivotal moment. I was met with everything I had worked for up to that moment along with the goals and dreams I had for the future. Through a close friend, I was introduced to a certified OBM (Online Business Manager) Ashley, who built her own online business while volunteering in Guatemala with her husband. I gained valuable insights into essential business practices and functions through them and I will always credit them both for the experience and skills they taught me. Talking with them added to the confidence I needed to fully launch my business on March 25, 2022, where I announced and shared it with friends, family, and my community. That date will forever hold a distinctive place in my memory, recalling the blend of emotions I experienced. I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness, given that it marked one of the most significant investments I had made in myself and represented the first public project I had entirely conceived from inception. Fast forward almost 2 years from then I have served several clients accomplishing my main goal of connecting them with their audience through social media along with all of the intricate details that go along with it. I am now turning 20 and my business continually evolves as I grow. The years of consistently being one of the youngest participants in lectures, meetings, and corporate settings have bolstered my confidence. This experience has enabled me to share my knowledge and experiences openly. Interestingly, the unique aspects of my personality, once criticized, now play a pivotal role in creating impactful pieces for my clients and fostering connections within the community. I’ve seamlessly integrated journalistic writing, a passion I’ve diligently honed for many years, into the array of services I offer. Each of us possesses unique gifts that at times may be criticized by others however, nine out of ten of those gifts, are what will lead and contribute to your overall success – and open the doors to the opportunities you will receive throughout your lifetime. This has proven true for me time and time again.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always enjoyed having meaningful conversations with others. Whether this is with my close friends or someone I just met. We as humans thrive on connection – this is what binds us together. A small act of kindness or saying simple meaningful words can have a profound effect on an individual. This is what I focus on when integrating a new client. I customize the content I produce for them to align with their individual goals, all while maintaining brand integrity to form a connection between them and their audience. Many clients ranging from many different fields come to me with several ideas so I use my youth to my advantage as I use the technology of my time to create effective content in the least amount of time. Together we dissect and implement their ideas and message – skillfully creating effective pieces of content that can include anything from a content post to a 20-minute or longer video all while working towards the overall goal of connection.
I started my business with a focus on various aspects of social media however integrating my writing has left me feeling very creatively fulfilled. Writing has been a key instrument for me in my personal life, as I process my thoughts, emotions, and situations in my life so professionally having the opportunity of writing descriptions, captions, video outlines, and long-form essays for clients and brands has been a great joy of mine.
I genuinely truly believe that age should not be seen as a limiting factor; in fact, it can be a positive aspect, as long as there is a steadfast commitment to continuous learning, something that each of us will continually experience at every stage of life.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My reputation within the market has been shaped by a combination of factors. First and foremost, I attribute it to a relentless dedication to delivering high-quality services consistently along with effectively connecting with my clients to understand them as an individual and their goals. This commitment has fostered trust and loyalty among clients and peers.
I believe effective communication has also played a pivotal role. Clear and transparent communication not only ensures client satisfaction but also helps in building lasting relationships I possess with my clients. Being responsive to feedback and adapting to evolving market needs has been crucial in maintaining a positive reputation as well. Just as we as humans evolve and change – businesses do the same tailoring their content and focus to their audience.
I’ve also invested much time and effort in continuously learning and staying abreast of industry trends and platforms allowing me to incorporate innovative practices which has positioned me as a reliable and knowledgeable professional within my market.
Lastly, word of mouth has been a powerful tool. Satisfied clients and positive testimonials have contributed significantly to my reputation. Overall, it’s a combination of consistent connection, effective communication, adaptability, ongoing learning, and client satisfaction that has helped me build and maintain a strong reputation in the market.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been a multifaceted approach that prioritizes both digital presence and personalized connections. Firstly, leveraging online platforms and digital marketing has allowed me to reach a broader audience along with interviews such as these.
It all comes back to connection. The personal touch remains invaluable. Building and nurturing relationships through networking events, company meetings, and one-on-one interactions have been instrumental. Word of mouth from peers, friends, and family, along with referrals from satisfied clients have proven to be a powerful factor in my growth.

Consistently delivering exceptional service and exceeding client expectations has been key to client retention and positive referrals. Additionally, offering promotions or incentives for client referrals has created a mutually beneficial cycle.
In essence, a combination of a strong online presence, personal connections, exceptional service delivery, and adaptability has proven to be the most effective strategy in growing and sustaining my clientele.
