We recently connected with Jordan Tate and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Too often the media represents innovation as something magical that only high-flying tech billionaires and upstarts engage in – but the truth is almost every business owner has to regularly innovate in small and big ways in order for their businesses to survive and thrive. Can you share a story that highlights something innovative you’ve done over the course of your career?
I’m excited to be working on one of the most innovative projects I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of in my entire career. It is currently called the “ATL 8IGH DAO”, which is a temporary name for a fan controlled team operating the The Basketball League (TBL). This team is extremely unique and will be the first professional basketball team to utilize blockchain technology and function as a DAO. This will give fans the power to vote on team decisions including the team name, roster, coaching staff, logos, colors, etc. The ATL 8IGH DAO will be participating in the TBL 2023 season.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a creative entrepreneur and co-founder of 8IGH, a company bringing blockchain technology and innovation to the sports world, powering the ATL 8IGH DAO. I’m also the owner of Creative Duke, a creative agency based out of Albuquerque, NM, specializing in providing clients with visual content, websites, as well as design services. Creative Duke was started as a side hustle in early 2014 and became a full-time creative agency during the course of 2020 and the pandemic. After being furloughed from my full-time design job in 2020, I had time to set the foundation for Creative Duke to scale and operate as a full-time firm. Now, well into 2022 Creative Duke is continuing to grow and provide customers with top of the line visual and creative services.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
The mainstream knowledge of NFTs are extremely limited. NFTs are mainly thought of as art, or “digital collectables”, but they can essentially be used like a digital receipt, or in the case of the ATL 8IGH DAO, as a membership. There are so many potential uses for NFTs that the future has in store.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The best way to grow clientele is by creating happy customers. Clients are more inclined to tell others about your services, or return themselves by delivering high quality work that speaks for itself. It’s important to deliver a quality product that’s worth the investment.
