We recently connected with Jordan Pullen and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Growing up my uncle shared his passion of classic rock with me. We spent a lot of time flipping through his countless collection of vinyls he had collected over the years. Like him, I became a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac. One of his favorite Stevie Nicks albums is Bella Donna. My uncle passed away unexpectedly in the summer of 2020. I inherited some of his vinyl records including all of his Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nick albums. In December 2020, when I started my business I decided to name the business after his favorite Stevie Nicks album. The name was perfect because it flowed perfectly with my western/boho vibe for the boutique.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Jordan and I own Belladonna Boutique. Belladonna Boutique is a western clothing store with all the latest trends in western and boho boutique styles. We have an online store as well as a location in the heart of downtown Franklinton, North Carolina inside Southern Serendipity Boutique Mercantile. I love to engage with my customers on Instagram and get their opinions on styles and have them weigh in on inventory orders. You can follow Belladonna Boutique on IG @belladonnaboutique___ and mention you read this article inside CanvasRebel Magazine- I would love to meet you! Building relationships with my customers is very important to me.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Engagement! Engage with your followers! Ask for opinions and do polls! Making sure your customers know you value their opinions is so important.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
When I first started Belladonna I had every intention of it being strictly online. Opportunities came about and I was able to open my first location within 2 months of opening. Now I have two locations and actively participate in local events and popups. What started as a side hustle has now turned into a full time job and I’m so thankful!
