We were lucky to catch up with Jordan Oram recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I took the risk to start a business for an animation IP that me and my partners are selling. We got extremely far in the sale of our IP to Netflix, but ultimately lost it because of Netflix USA cutting their Animation department by 90% to focus on their own IPs which they had bought the rights for. We realized the value we had considering we made it that far, and ultimately decided to start our own animation studio to produce our IP. We are now halfway through the first season of our webcomic and have begun building a subscriber base to help us fund our expansion.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a seller at heart. I began selling financial products when I was 23. I gained a lot of experience doing face to face sales, and it caused me to want to expand what I do. I now focus on real estate, and am currently getting licensed to also sell securities as well as insurance.
I also sell my image as an actor. I have worked my way into being a SAG-AFTRA member, and have been selling my own content.

Have you ever had to pivot?
This year, the SAG-AFTRA strikes really put a stop to anything entertainment-wise. It gave me the opportunity to pivot my current focus. The pandemic provided time for me and my company to focus on developing our animation, but now with the strikes, it gave me time to focus on new ventures. Since, I have been getting licensed as a wealth advisor so that I can provide artists (and others) access retirement plans and secure their future.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Network. Your network is your net worth, and finding rooms where you are not the smartest, or the wealthiest, is the quickest way to build.
