We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jordan Norman. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jordan below.
Jordan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I have a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and worked in tech for 6 years as a senior project manager in software implementation. I began teaching yoga along side this position on weekends and evenings, which was far more fulfilling. I could see individuals lives being impacted by my coaching & teaching, so I decided to take the leap and dedicate my time and energy fully to this work. While it was terrifying to leave a corporate 9-5 for many reasons – healthcare, stability, consistent money – it was one of the best risks I’ve taken and has taught me so much.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I help individuals reconnect with their mind, body + spirit while reclaiming their inner wisdom. My services are based on three healing modalities – yoga, reiki & the fertility awareness method, however, I often bring in other tools such as sound healing, meditation, herbalism & more. Whether you’re looking to bring a mindfulness seminar to your workplace, utilize the fertility awareness method to prevent pregnancy naturally, looking for some energetic release or something else – I’ve helped many individuals in many different capacities & I can’t wait to help you as well. I got into this work through my own healing journey & love sharing the tools I’ve learned individually & through formal education to help you.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think in any field where you are running your own business and landing clients individually you need to be resilient & a go-getter. Owning your own business forces you to wear many hats & learn things on the fly, and this can be overwhelming for many people. Asking for help when needed, confiding in other business owners, & dedicating your time to learning new skills is key.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Word of mouth, really! In today’s day and age of technology, we’re constantly being marketed and sold to. When friends and family recommend your services to someone, an individual is more likely to book. And when you’re “selling” a service or product you truly believe in, people can tell! The passion you have for your work is easily translated & seen by potential clients.
