We recently connected with Jordan Moed and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
So I definitely feel our debut album has been the most meaningful project we have had yet as a band! From the writing process that began before and during Covid lock down, it really taught us a band how to persevere during the unimaginable. We wrote this album from afar with our drummer being in NJ, our bassist in Orlando and myself here in Nashville, we had to find ways to communicate and write this record without being together physically and through home studios, zoom, and Wetransferring countless demos to each other, we were able to make to get the album written. We recorded the album during summer of 2020 when Covid was still running rampid and with the help of our good friends Tristan Roberts (Tracking/Mixing) and Justin Gregg (Tracking) and having our own home studios, we were able to persevere through lock down and covid with tracking this record. We spent the next year really working hard with our good friend Tristan Roberts mixing this album and making sure we got it right. Especially since in 2021 we were still dealing with covid in some fassets, we were still limited with our time to mix and even though it took a year for the album to officially finishing mixing, it proved to be worth it with how it came out. During this as well we were also shooting music videos, photoshoots, building our online presence, and getting our first couple of shows booked out of covid, we really had our hands full while the mixing of the album was going. Also during this time we signed our management/label deal with Diotima Records which they helped us get established with our first two singles of the record, “The Hungry & Dangerous” & “Insomniacs. We finished completion of mixing in December 2021 and my studio (Crashline Studios) were in charge of the mastering of the album and were able to complete the record in January of 2022. Now we thought we had beaten every adversary with this album, but this was just the beginning. Once we had delivered the album to our label, they spent a while work shopping our album to distributors, blogs, and magazines to gain hype, and it wasn’t til months after we completed the album deal, we were finally able to release the album on 7/22 worldwide in stores and on all streaming platforms. Following the release was a small tour in support of the album and ill never forget getting the first box of cds in from our label and holding a copy and just knowing this was 2 years of blood, sweat and tears and finally after all was said and done, we were able to finally get it released. Were so proud of this album and we hope our fans enjoy it as much as we worked to get it done!
Jordan , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The Hungry & Dangerous is American hard rock band that formed in 2020 during covid lockdown because of the fact that all members of this band were in other projects and those projects didnt want to take advantage of the time we were given in lockdown to face adversary and move forward to reach our dreams. Our music is an ode to yesteryear of classic rock that meets a mondern touch of todays rock music and everything in between. We released our debut self titled single in May of 2021 with our second single, Insomniacs following in October of 2021. Our debut album was released on July 22nd of this year and is out now in stores and on all major streaming platforms. This year we embarked on our first tour in support of the album and plan for more to come soon! We as band describe ourselves as “Unapologetic Authentic Rock N Roll to it’s very core” and we continue to strive to do just that. Our live show is truly a spectacle which is due to our love of the rock bands of yesteryear that we grew up loving and what made us love the music in the first place and we feel we owe it our fans which we call “The Hooligans & Anxious Hearts” to give them everything we have every single night because we know without them, were nothing and with them, were everything.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I think its fairly simple, SUPPORT! SUPPORT! SUPPORT! Every band that we grow to love and call our favorite bands were once an small indie band trying to find every way to grow its wings and these bands can only continue with support. Buy their merch, buy their albums and stop asking for freebees or free show tickets because we all know that all of this costs alot to do and to produce. If you dont have finances to support, it cost literally $0 to push a bands new song or album or just them in general on social media. Social media is so big in today’s world for musicians, and I feel alot of people do see that, but they don’t understand how much bands and artist need that presence in order to progress their career to new heights and I feel its on everyone including ourselves to support the scene in anyway we can. So share your favorite bands to your friends, to your followers, buy merch and their albums, help these bands succeed so we see the next generation of Rock N Roll thrive!
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I personally do think NFTs are fascinating, they open so many opportunities for bands and creatives to rethink and re-imagine our art and how we deliver that art to fans and I think its a very important and integral piece to how the music industry and really the arts will progress into the future. I do feel personally were still not there yet when it comes to how artists use them in the music industry personally, As a smaller indie band, having that fanbase of diehards who would invest in a NFT doesnt seem to be there right now, and I can speak for most indie or smaller bands when I say it feels for generally bigger or very successful bands it makes all the sense in the world to build on NFTS and for that I feel it has made them super profitable for these bands. But as a indie band, I feel most bands don’t have that type of support or that type of fanbase just yet in our careers to where fans would invest in NFTS. I also feel that the general public, not just rock fans or music fans really understand the value of NFTS just yet just because they’re so relatively new, so thats why I feel were still a while out before we truly see the bigger picture of the impact that NFTS will have on the music industry and the creative world.
