Hi Jordan , thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success often comes from not having many distractions and a clear vision, and persistent efforts towards your goal everyday, At least 1% a day. It involves setting goals, staying disciplined, and adapting to challenges. Embracing all challenges with a learning perspective. Ultimately, success is about being relentless, going for what you want and establishing a focus that you can’t separate from. Committing to the path and the plan you set for yourself.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As a professional photographer with over 1 year of experience, my journey began as just a method of relaxation from amateur boxing. Unbeknownst to me I grew a passion for capturing moments and telling stories through images. My initial interest in photography evolved into a full-fledged career as I am an active duty veteran in the United States Army. I then honed my skills and developed a unique style characterized by a blend of authenticity and artistic flair.
I specialize in a range of photography services, including portrait, commercial, sport, wedding and event photography. My work focuses on creating compelling visual content that resonates with clients and their audiences. Whether it’s crafting stunning portraits that capture personal essence, developing engaging marketing visuals for businesses, or documenting significant life events with an artistic touch, my goal is to provide images that stand out and make an impact.
What sets me apart is my commitment to understanding each client’s unique needs and vision. I take pride in my ability to create a comfortable and collaborative environment, ensuring that every photograph reflects the true spirit of the subject. My approach combines technical expertise with creative insight, allowing me to deliver not just photos, but powerful visual experiences.
I am most proud of the relationships I’ve built with clients and the positive feedback I receive about how my work has enhanced their personal or professional lives. My portfolio includes work with a diverse range of clients, from individuals seeking memorable portraits to businesses needing high-quality promotional material.
For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want them to know that my work is driven by a genuine passion for photography and a dedication to excellence. I strive to make every project a memorable and rewarding experience, with a focus on creating images that are both visually striking and deeply meaningful.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Early in my photography career, I was hired to capture an important wedding. Confident in my preparations, I arrived with all my gear, including a new external flash I was eager to try. However, during the reception, the flash malfunctioned, leaving me with poorly lit photos and an anxious bride.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, I quickly adapted by using natural light and adjusting my camera settings to compensate. I spent extra time editing the photos afterward, enhancing them to meet the client’s expectations. Despite the added pressure and initial disappointment, the bride was pleased with the final images.
This experience was a significant setback but also a valuable lesson in resilience. It taught me to always have backup plans and to remain calm under pressure. The failure with the flash ultimately strengthened my skills and preparedness, turning a challenging situation into a growth opportunity.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
In the early years of my photography career, I was eager to build my portfolio and establish myself in the industry. This enthusiasm led me to take on numerous projects simultaneously, believing that more work would translate to more experience and recognition.
However, as the workload increased, I found myself overwhelmed and unable to give each project the attention it deserved. The quality of my work began to suffer, deadlines became difficult to manage, and I struggled to maintain a balance between creativity and client expectations.
It was through this challenging period that I had to unlearn the belief that taking on every opportunity was the path to success. I realized that quality far outweighed quantity. By focusing on fewer projects and dedicating more time and energy to each, I could produce higher-quality work and foster better client relationships.
This lesson reshaped my approach, teaching me the importance of managing workload effectively and prioritizing quality over sheer volume. It was a crucial step in my professional growth, leading to more fulfilling and successful outcomes in my photography career.
