We recently connected with Jordan Leason and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope I am remembered for my commitment to my family, my clients and athletes and my impact within the fitness industry as well as the city of Houston. I work hard and consistently to set the bar high for our clients, coaches and competitors.

Jordan , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started working in the fitness industry while finishing up my degree at University of Houston. I have worked at the front desk then moved into a position of membership salesman then ultimately I became a personal trainer. I realized there were more efficient ways to operate than what was happening in the corporate gyms I worked for and set out on my own to create systems and build my own clientele which over time became Houston Strength.
Houston Strength provides professional training in an intimate training environment that sets the bar for our peers in industry. We work hard to take care of our clientele, educate our staff and other Houston area personal trainers on optimal training methods, and maintain and grow our facility here in Houston as well as our online training community.
Our motto is “Uncover Your Strength” and we take pride in the opportunity to help our clientele do just that.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When Houston Strength first opened we were in a small space with a one year lease, malicious landlords chose not to renew our lease after two years in the space and tens of thousands of dollars spent on the buildout. It felt like rock bottom, I could not see a way to keep the business open and had accepted that I had failed. While moving the equipment out of the first facility and into a storage unit we had at the time we stumbled upon another warehouse space. Our operating expenses more than doubled which was scary at the time but we were able to make things work and eventually expand that space into our 4000 square foot personal training space we have today in the heart of the Spring Branch/Memorial area.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I went all in on myself to start the business. I maxed out all my credit cards buying equipment, which I do not recommend at all! I sold my condo, vehicle and anything else of value to invest into our first gym space. I was not eligible for any loans at the time and the cash I was able to scrape together was just enough for a simple buildout and the first few months of operating expenses. I had no investors, no funding, just a dollar and a dream.
