KeL, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
I think all artists are misunderstood because art in itself is left up to one’s interpretation. It’s self expression in the purest form, as an artist once you give your art to the world you can’t allow someone’s interpretation to consume you. You just gotta appreciate the fact they even took the time to listen in the first place.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Music is the one thing that I feel can cross any barrier. Honestly, before I was even conscious of that I gravitated to music as my chosen from of expression. Songs are moments, moods and memories. Music allows you to create your own universe as an artist. It’s freeing to me in a world where it feels like we are constantly being “bought”. Whether it’s your time or your money you are always weighing if it’s worth it or not. Music is that opportunity to freeze time and create a moment that you can listen to over and over again.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
To be apart of the revolution is what drives me. I feel responsible for leading my people away from self destruction. As an artist I want to make sure I show the next generation it’s okay to be you. There’s a small window of opportunity for this revolution. It’s happening right in front of your eyes.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being able to create. It’s free form painting depending on my mood and what’s going on in my world, the conversations I’ve been having with myself and others. It’s exhilarating I still get chills when I’m in the booth.
