Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jordan Kaye. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jordan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my company is “Analog Events,” and I must admit that naming anything, especially a business, can be quite a challenging process.
When I was brainstorming names for my brand, I wanted something that would capture the essence of what I do and convey a deeper meaning. My business primarily focuses on organizing events and experiences that facilitate human connection, interaction, and engagement. In today’s increasingly digital world, where technology often takes center stage, I believe that there’s a profound need for genuine, Analog human connections.
No matter how digital our world becomes, there is an enduring and irreplaceable value in face-to-face interactions, shared moments, and the authenticity of human connections. The word “analog” resonated with me because it represents the old-school, tactile, and real-world experiences that I am passionate about creating.
Analog technology and experiences have a timeless quality to them, and they evoke a sense of nostalgia and warmth. I wanted my brand to embody these qualities and remind people that, amid all the digital noise, there are moments worth savoring and relationships worth nurturing in the analog realm.
So, in essence, “Analog Events” symbolizes my commitment to bringing people together, fostering meaningful connections, and creating memorable experiences that are grounded in the analog, real-world context. It serves as a constant reminder that, no matter how advanced technology becomes, the fundamental need for human interaction remains, and my company is here to facilitate those connections.
Jordan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I began my career in Public Relations & Marketing in Los Angeles 20 years ago. While working for various firms, I discovered my passion for events. I enjoyed planning events such as product launches, brand activations, and destination trips for media, as it allowed me to create human connections and foster community around an experience.
Building on my background in PR & marketing and my experience working for another production company, I founded Analog Events almost 8 years ago now. My expertise in event planning and production, combined with my marketing and PR skills, has enabled me to create exceptional and memorable experiences for my clients. As the owner of Analog Events, I continue to refine my skills in creative trends, management, and client relations while leading my team in producing exceptional events.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
How we keep the client love alive at Analog Events? It’s not just business for us; it’s about building real friendships. Most of our clients have become part of our inner circle. We hang out outside of work events, grab drinks, or even have impromptu game nights. It’s all about bonding beyond spreadsheets and schedules.
Now, speaking of spreading the love, we like to surprise our clients throughout the year with little tokens of appreciation. This year, we went all out for PRIDE month. We sent our clients a super fun PRIDE mailer filled with goodies from other LGBTQ+ owned businesses. It was a blast, and it’s just one way we show that we care about more than just the bottom line.
And when it comes to staying in touch, it’s not just about sending formal emails. We chat like old pals. We listen to their stories, share ours, and even shoot the breeze about the latest binge-worthy shows. It’s all about making that human connection. Plus, we’re all ears when they have suggestions or feedback. They’re the experts in what they need, and we’re here to make it happen.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
“The Art of Gathering” by Priya Parker is my go-to book for not only event planning, but my overall entrepreneurial philosophy. This book offers valuable insights and practical advice on how to create meaningful and memorable experiences that bring people together and leave a lasting impact.
One of the most impactful lessons I gained from this book is the importance of setting a clear purpose for any gathering. Parker argues that by defining the “why” of an event, we can create a more focused and effective experience that resonates with attendees. This approach has been instrumental in shaping our approach to internal, client & vendor meetings, as well as planning future business decisions.
“The Art of Gathering” encourages us to embrace discomfort. Genuine growth and transformation often require stepping out of our comfort zones and confronting discomfort. By intentionally designing experiences that challenge participants and push them beyond their limits, we can foster personal growth and resilience.
Entrepreneurs can adapt these principles to their business practices by considering the purpose and objectives of each gathering, carefully selecting attendees or partners who align with their goals, and creating experiences that foster strong connections and leave a lasting impression.
