We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jordan Johnson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jordan below.
Jordan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
My mom taught me a lot of financial literacy. I think the most important thing to learn, which can also be a struggle for young adults is how to manage your money. Of course in your teens and twenties you want to go out and have fun, but always make sure the bills are paid first. Don’t go getting two to three credit cards to max out either, because it can damage your credit tremendously.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jordan Simone Johnson. I’m a native of Santee, Sc. I graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology located NYC in 2019 and I’m now obtaining a degree from Trident Tech in Human Resources. I’d consider myself a micro-influencer. I collaborate with a variety of companies to promote their service and products. This year I was able to collaborate with a company, ScentCraft, to create my very own fragrance.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building an audience on social media platforms can always be a bit difficult, but you must stay consistent. I use to post here and there, but last I made it my business to post at least three times a week. Whether is was a Instagram post, a YouTube video, or Facebook post. I had to put myself out there to gain more traffic to my pages. To anybody looking to get into social media, don’t second guess yourself. Don’t wait to post, because your overly self-conscious. POST IT NOW!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Giving people the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes I made deals with companies that weren’t honest. I had to learn that no one is going to look out for me the way I am, so it is very important to read the fine print. Verbal agreements don’t uphold like printed contracts.
