Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jordan Hutchison. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jordan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business was born from a deeply personal journey—a journey of reclaiming my own power and rewriting the narrative I had about my body and what it meant to truly feel alive. It wasn’t something I planned; it was something that called to me, demanded to be birthed.
The moment of clarity came during a period of transformation in my life. I had just gone through a season of questioning everything—my worth, my relationship with my body, and how I was showing up in the world. I realized how disconnected I had become from the truth of who I was and how often women around me were echoing the same sentiment. We live in a world that tells us, over and over, that our bodies are problems to be fixed, that our power is something to keep small and quiet. I couldn’t unsee it—and I knew I couldn’t keep quiet about it.
I knew I wanted to create something that challenged that narrative, something that invited women to step into their power and see themselves through a lens of reverence, love, and joy. Photography became the medium because of its undeniable ability to capture essence and truth, but it was never just about the photos. It was about creating an experience—a space—where women could let go of the limiting beliefs and stories that had been holding them back.
This felt worthwhile because it was solving a problem so many women face but rarely talk about openly: the disconnection from their own bodies, their own power. Boudoir photography had existed before, but I saw a gap—it was often transactional, surface-level, or purely about aesthetics. What I wanted to create was something different: a sacred experience, where the photos became the artifact of a journey, not just the end result.
What excited me most was the transformation I started seeing in the women I worked with. These weren’t just sessions; they were initiations. Women would come in nervous, hesitant, unsure—and leave with a light in their eyes, standing taller, feeling more alive. They’d tell me weeks later how they were showing up differently in their lives, their relationships, their businesses. That was when I knew this was more than a business; it was a movement. A chance to change the way women see themselves, forever.
The logic of why it would work came from observing the hunger women have for spaces that honor and celebrate them as they are. It wasn’t about competing with others; it was about creating something that felt like a homecoming for women, a space they didn’t even realize they’d been searching for. I knew that if I could create a container for transformation, with every detail—every email, every moment, every event—designed to honor their experience, it would resonate.
And the truth is, it still excites me every day. The idea of seeing a woman step into her power, reclaim her story, and walk away with something tangible that reminds her she’s worthy of taking up space? That’s magic. That’s why I do this.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, I’m Jordan Hutchison—though most people just call me Jor. I’m a photographer, a space holder, and someone who’s endlessly passionate about helping women come home to themselves. My work is rooted in a simple but transformative belief: every woman deserves to feel alive, powerful, and seen. And not just seen on the surface, but deeply seen—every curve, every story, every part of who they are.
I didn’t start out intending to be a boudoir photographer. Boudoir found me in a space and time when I needed it most. I was in a season of feeling disconnected from myself, my body, and my power, and that’s when the camera became more than a tool—it became a mirror. Through the lens, I started to see not just myself but the stories we, as women, carry about our worth, our beauty, and our place in the world. And I realized how healing it could be, not just for me but for others.
That’s how this work began—not as a business, but as a calling. My sessions aren’t just about photos; they’re about transformation. They’re about helping women reconnect with their bodies, release limiting beliefs, and step into a version of themselves they might not have even realized was waiting to be seen. It’s about saying, “You are worthy, you are powerful, and you are enough—exactly as you are.”
Over time, my business has grown to include so much more. I work with women not just through boudoir photography but also through personal branding photography, where we dive into the essence of who they are and how they want to show up in the world. I also host retreats and events, creating spaces where women can gather, share, and step deeper into their power. My podcast, *The Body Shift*, is another extension of this work—a way to dive into the conversations that matter, from body image to feminine energy, and everything in between.
What sets my work apart is the intentionality behind it. It’s not just about creating something beautiful; it’s about creating something sacred. Every session, every retreat, every piece of this work is designed to honor a woman’s journey and hold space for her transformation. It’s deeply personal, and I’m there every step of the way, whether we’re dreaming up a session or standing together in a circle at one of my retreats.
What I’m most proud of is the ripple effect this work has. I’ve had women tell me that a session with me gave them the courage to leave a toxic relationship, start a business, or simply look in the mirror and feel at peace for the first time in years. That’s the magic of this work—it doesn’t stay in the studio or on a retreat. It follows them home and changes how they show up in their lives. To me, that’s everything.
If you’re new to my world, here’s what I want you to know: this is an invitation. Whether you’re stepping into my studio, joining me on a retreat, or listening to my podcast, you’re saying yes to yourself. Yes to more love, more joy, and more connection with the person you truly are. This work is about seeing yourself through a lens of tenderness and reverence. It’s about rewriting the story you tell yourself and stepping into the power that’s always been yours.
You are worthy. You are powerful. And I’m so honored to be part of your journey.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the stories that truly illustrates my resilience is tied to my very first boudoir event. It was such a pivotal moment in my journey, but at the time, it felt like an enormous leap of faith. I had poured my heart into the idea of creating not just a photo session, but an entire experience—a space where women could come together, feel empowered, and see themselves through a lens of love and reverence. It was a big vision, and honestly, I wasn’t sure if it was going to work.
I remember leading up to the event, I faced so many doubts. What if no one showed up? What if the women didn’t feel the transformation I so deeply wanted them to experience? What if this was all a big mistake? At the same time, there were logistical hurdles—juggling the planning, finding the perfect space, coordinating with everyone involved, and trying to keep my own nerves in check.
But the moment the event began, all of those fears melted away. I watched as these incredible women arrived, each one carrying her own story, her own fears, and her own hesitations. As the day unfolded, I saw them begin to let go. They laughed, they connected, and most importantly, they started to see themselves in a new light. The energy in that room was electric. By the end of the event, I saw transformations happening right in front of me—women standing taller, smiling brighter, owning their space in a way that was absolutely magnetic.
What I didn’t expect was how much *I* would transform in the process. That event showed me what was possible, not just for the women I was serving, but for me as a creator and space holder. It reminded me why this work matters so deeply and why resilience is essential. Yes, it was hard. Yes, there were moments I doubted myself. But stepping through the fear and into the vision made it all worth it.
Looking back, that first boudoir event wasn’t just a milestone for my business—it was proof that when we trust ourselves and lean into our purpose, amazing things can happen. It’s a reminder I carry with me every day, especially when I face new challenges. Resilience isn’t about having it all figured out; it’s about showing up, even when you’re scared, and trusting that the magic will follow.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was that I had to be perfect to be worthy. That belief had been so ingrained in me for as long as I could remember—this idea that I needed to look a certain way, act a certain way, and have everything figured out before I could show up fully in the world. It was exhausting, and it kept me small.
The backstory? It really came to a head when I first started putting myself out there as a boudoir photographer. Here I was, asking women to step into their power, to celebrate their bodies, to embrace their imperfections—and yet I was still holding onto this idea that I wasn’t enough. I remember early on, before one of my first sessions, I had this wave of self-doubt: *Who am I to do this work? What if I don’t get it “right”? What if I fail?*
But then something powerful happened. During that session, I witnessed a woman fully embrace herself in a way that was raw, imperfect, and utterly beautiful. She wasn’t concerned about looking perfect—she was just present, alive, and unapologetically herself. And it hit me: the power of this work isn’t in perfection. It’s in presence, vulnerability, and authenticity.
That moment was a wake-up call for me. I realized that this standard of perfection I’d been clinging to wasn’t just unnecessary—it was harmful. It was keeping me from fully connecting with myself and with the women I wanted to serve. From that point on, I made a conscious effort to let go of the need to have it all together. I gave myself permission to show up as I was, imperfections and all, and to trust that who I am is enough.
Unlearning perfectionism has been a journey—it still is. But every time I catch myself falling into that old pattern, I remind myself of that early session, of the raw beauty of imperfection, and of the truth that our power doesn’t come from being perfect. It comes from being real, present, and willing to show up anyway. That’s the energy I bring into everything I do now, and it’s one of the greatest gifts I hope to pass on to the women I work with.
