We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jordan Fuchs. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jordan below.
Alright, Jordan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
When creating the name for Plastic Pizza we wanted to make sure it was a fun and playful. Plastic Pizza creates an opportunity to imagine and we knew creating a fun and catchy name that reflected that would be important for the start of our company. Inspirations such as Toy Tokyo, Strange Cat Toys, Johnny Cupcakes and My Plastic Heart were stores we had in mind when considering names for a designer art business. Jordan’s first love was always ‘pizza’, so making sure the word pizza was in the name was important and because we had the dream to create our own designer art toys the name Plastic Pizza just seemed perfect!

Jordan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Plastic Pizza is an artistically thinking brand with a focus on creativity, imagination and community. Our mission is to feed the world peace and art, while being a lightning rod for creativity and community. Plastic Pizza is here on a mission of peace to bring interdimensional bliss to a dimension near you. Peace the Pizza and the Cosmic Cows are just a few of the cosmic characters floating around the pizza universe. Plastic Pizza’s mission is to deliver cheesy bliss in all its artistic forms including but not limited to designer art toys, limited run apparel in custom pizza boxes as well as collectible pins, stickers, and posters. Along with providing Earth Dwelling Inhabitants with interdimensional bliss, Plastic Pizza also is a platform for creative minds and artists to dream and imagine. The power of creativity and the spirit of imagination fuel the artistic drive behind Plastic Pizza. We have been lucky enough to collaborate with brands such as Johnny Cupcakes, Beer Canvas, Rlux Customs and Abominable Toys. We have appeared at events such as Clutter Magazine’s Five Points Festival as well as Designer Con in Anaheim, California. Plastic Pizza has also partnered with restaurants and businesses to create exclusive pop-up events which include live graffiti, designer toy and exclusive merch drops. Our mural work has been featured on the streets of New York City including Soho, the Lower East Side and Bushwick. For almost two years Plastic Pizza has created a live streaming show where we connect with existing and potential customers while also providing an opportunity for exclusive drops and exciting giveaways. Plastic Pizza has also curated custom group shows that have included artists such as Robots Will Kill, Ghost Fox Toys, Nicky Davis, Doctor Plopz, Save The Panduhs, RedGuardian and Vincent Scala.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Creating opportunities to be in person in front of potential customers has been the best source of new clients for Plastic Pizza. An example of this would be Plastic Pizza’s appearance at events such as comic cons, horror and anime conventions as well as designer art shows and gallery appearances. Having the unique opportunity to create lasting impressions with potential customers has been very important in growing a fan and customer base. At Plastic Pizza we strive to provide customers at in person events with a fun experience as well as an opportunity to purchase unique and creative products. In person events also allow new and potential customers to view a large selection of our catalog of items all at once in a colorful and engaging way. Creating free mini art prints that double as a business handout has been one example of an investment into in person events that helps secure new clients and drive new traffic to our website and live streaming shows.

How’d you meet your business partner?
Having the opportunity to build a business with your spouse has been incredibly rewarding and fulfilling as we get to tackle challenges as a couple and a team. When in college the two of us (Sarah & Jordan Fuchs) were lucky enough to meet at a Asolo Theatre Production of Shakespeare’s play ‘As You Like It’. After graduating the opportunity to create a business arose from a passion of collecting designer toys and art. As a couple who worked together through college our goal was to continue working together as we truly enjoyed being together.
