We were lucky to catch up with Jordan Fox recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
My mom! Easiest question ever. She is the most grace-filled human being I have ever met. She’s tough as nails and extremely business savvy, but does it all while maintaining a softness that makes her everyone’s favorite. She planted the seed that became Luca’s Cosmic Confectionery. She is the brains of the operation. As a numbers gal, she pulls me back and grounds me when my creative mind goes on wild goose chases. She is an encourager by nature and I’m just so lucky to have her as part of my team in life and now business.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Jordan and I started Luca’s Cosmic Confectionery about a year ago with the intention of creating an extra source of income that would allow me to stay home with my son. I thought it would be easy! I loved the products, was really intrigued by the science and the process, and thought “This will be perfect! Super easy.” While it hasn’t been easy by any stretch of the imagination, it has been extremely rewarding and so much fun.
At Luca’s Cosmic Confectionery we create fun, exciting experiences through our unique candy and snacks. All of our products are freeze-dried, which on paper means they’ll last on a shelf for 20-30 years. What makes our products so different and what keeps our customers coming back is the tangible experience we provide. Through sublimation, the candy’s texture and appearance is transformed and the flavor is intensified. We primarily sell online and through pop-ups or festivals.
I’m most proud of the relationships that we’ve built within our community over the past year. I have been blown away by the kindness and support of other local small business owners. We have the most loyal and amazing customers, some who even travel long distances to support our business. That will never be lost on me. We’ve had the privilege of participating in birthday parties, graduation celebrations, charity events, business events, marketing campaigns, and even a wedding this year. It is the coolest thing in the world to play a small part in making someone’s day special. Adding a little whimsy to your day just completely makes mine.
I hope that when people happen upon our tent at a pop up, or even just scroll past our Instagram they feel lighthearted, nostalgic (the good kind), and a little happier than before. There’s nothing more fun to me than meeting customers in person and bonding over these amazing treats. It sounds silly, but if you know you know.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I am very intentional in my interactions with customers. Some people are strictly customers, they may stop by, grab some candy and that’s it, but most of the people who purchase our products have truly become friends. We know each other’s stories and that’s important. We have a mutual respect and I get excited about showing them new things. I am constantly asking for feedback and asking my customers what they want, and then I tailor the experience to that the best I can.
I think when someone walks up and realizes that you remember them or know their name or their order, there’s a sense of community and value that doesn’t exist in most places today. I want people to feel that they are important, and I want them to feel seen. I mess up and drop the ball sometimes, but by and large I think that intention of authentic community comes through and drives our brand loyalty.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Stop waiting for the perfect time. I’m a chronic over thinker and have wasted so much valuable time trying to wait until circumstances aligned perfectly to make a move. If I could go back and tell myself something a year ago, it would be “stop waiting.” The perfect time is a fairytale. Just go for it and if it doesn’t work out what is the literal worst thing that could happen? You lose money? Your ego takes a hit and you feel embarrassed? When you get really granular in that, it sucks the fear right out of the situation.
Just go for it. Most people aren’t paying attention to what you’re doing. Everyone has their own stuff going on- you’re only the main character in your own mind. One of my favorite comedians says “You’re not the man on fire. You’re not Denzel.” Make the move now and quit waiting on the perfect time, it doesn’t exist.
