Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jordan Faust. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jordan, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
On September 2nd, 2022 my latest album “Forgotten No More” hit #10 for Pop Albums & #76 overall for All Albums on the iTunes Charts.
The album was a long-time coming, based around my entire life and how I came up with my stage name “Forgotten One”. It was truly the most meaningful & personal project I’ve ever done in my life.
So I’m very proud of the record and seeing the album top the charts was a dream come true.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Former college basketball player, I transitioned into being a recording artist about 7 years ago.
I signed and have been working with my label Bentley Records about 5 years now. I’ve been an A&R w/ Bentley in the past and am also currently the Head of Label Relations,
I categorize my music as “pop-rap” but it’s unique. The main purpose/message behind my music is to inspire and help people in any way possible. I use my trials/tribulations and lessons learned from my basketball journey and life in general, to try to help my listeners in any way, shape, or form.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
As a recording artist I started out by going to a hometown studio and paying quite a bit of money to record and have my music engineered. What I wish I would’ve known from the get-go is how affordable it is to purchase your own simple recording equipment that you can use from home.
The reason why is because not only do you save tons of money but you can really practice your craft and take the time to record until your content with the sound. When you’re in the studio you’re on the clock and in my experience my music comes out best when I have the time to make it sound exactly how I picture it sounding.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my opinion, musicians have to be paid more. I believe there’s such limited opportunities for recording artists to make enough money to support themselves (and possibly others) full-time.
Not saying it’s not possible, but from what I’ve seen it’s rare. Music is such a beautiful thing and there’s so much talent out there, that I think we have to find a way and more opportunities to make it easier for artist with true potential, to earn a living by doing what they love and what so many people enjoy.
The ideas of how to do this haven’t come to me yet fully, but it’s something that I want to be a part of moving forward. Not only to help myself, but also all of those amazing artists that go un-noticed and under-paid!
