We recently connected with Jordan Dixon and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
While ending my college career in creative advertising, I was lost in what my near future was going to look like outside of being a student. That prompted me to problem solve and apply anywhere and everywhere no matter how far-fetched some of the applications seemed. I was rejected by all ventures I tried to pursue except one, Pensole. I was elated and also taken aback that I was chosen for this prestigious, fast tracked course to work along side Carhartt. This made everything that I worked for with student loans and maxed out credit cards feel worth it when I was chosen for one of the three internships at Carhartt to continue to curate and innovate for industrial athletes.
Jordan , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The major driving force in my career is public responses to my creations. I take pride in giving everyone an opportunity to deviate from the pieces, that I create to inspire something of their own. I love hearing how my products have impacted people in their lives, and seeing how they choose to express themselves through the pieces that I create and they expand upon. My pieces have taken more time than I could ever imagine and I wouldn’t take it back for anything after seeing how NOxID changes the way people view themselves.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
My entire adult experience has been unlearning toxic lessons especially as a young black man. One of the most important lessons I’m currently still unlearning is that accepting help doesn’t make me weak or make my journey less than. The meaning of my brand is based on building community and I wouldn’t have gotten where I am without those around me. Allowing people to help me entices me to help others along the way and continue the cycle of prosperity with NOxID.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I draw my main source of inspiration from my family, hence the name NOxID (Dixon backwards). My dad especially, he was the epitome of suave and the definition of hardworking. I wanted to find a way to express my love for him within NOxID by instilling those traits into myself and each piece of clothing I created. My family always makes it a point to tell me how I represent the family with the values we all grew up with and to help people as much as I can along the way. My philosophy in doing so helps me uphold his legacy whilst creating mine.
