We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jordan Davis . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jordan below.
Alright, Jordan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
This journey is about allowing ourselves to be anything we choose to be. If you want it, you can have it. We all have been gifted with many creative talents that allows us to sustain our lifestyles, and we must learn to tap into them. My mission is to create a platform for those who inspire to become self-sufficient, independent and live freely.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a woman of God, a mother and a businesswoman. I love the simple things life has to offer. I am motivated by making the people around me happy. I am eager to learn all there is about this thing called life. I enjoy traveling and making memories with my son. I am a simple girl with big dreams and aspirations.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
It all started with hair! I grew up playing in people’s hair just for fun. Never looking at doing hair at a professional standpoint. It was something God consistently threw in front of me because I could do it so easily and somehow was my peace. Doing hair is like meditation for me, its calming in every aspect when it’s not stressful. One day I woke up and I was like I need to go to school so I can teach others. I applied to the Paul Mitchell hair school in Houston and was accepted into the program. September 21, 2022, I was the first to graduate in my class. So, trust in your passions they will make way for you and take you places your mind might tell you it’s impossible. While doing hair, I found another passion which was nails. Nails, nails, nails if you ask anyone, they will tell you I always have my nails done. However, after having my son and becoming a stay home mom, money became limited. So, I had to improvise. One day I stumbled across a video of a girl who did her own nails, and it sparked an AHA moment. I became more knowledgeable in the industry by researching and investing in different products and became self-taught. Since I love being creative doing nails was everything to me because of the limitless possibilities. Then I got into self-care which consisted of, spirituality, aromatherapy, meditation and a healthy balanced diet- food for the soul. Learning how to nourish and replenish my mind, body and soul is the key to my success.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
This entire journey has shown me my resilience. There were many hard days that I never showed to others, nights I cried and wanted to give up. Many days I stayed in bed because I was angry and shut everyone out. Even during those moments, I remained thankful and grateful for this journey. I know this journey is not in vain and I am constantly put to the test to prove to myself I am capable. I am learning all the days spent all count towards the end goal. I learned God challenges the strong to prove how strong we really are. In ways I thank God for my challenges, they have made me who I am today. Life is not for the weak and we must learn to be strong. I know the position in life God has for me requires a supernatural strength many don’t carry. I understand challenges are like food for growth and without them you never grow. So being resilient is a part of my everyday life because God is in control of my path, and I must follow.
