Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jordan Cordel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jordan, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Honestly, it all started freshman year of high school. My high school had a talent show called Memorial Idol and I decided to perform. I went against all the upper class men and still came in 1st place. It definitely put a fire under me to pursue my R&B dreams. I started writing more and volunteered to do more performances. Once I turned 18, I found a studio and started working just “to” pay for studio time.
Jordan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Jordan Cordel. I am singer/songwriter from Texas, born in Houston, raised in Port Arthur, now currently residing in Austin. I’ve being singing since 8 years old but have pursuing it professionally as a career for about 5 years now. I particularly focus on R&B and Neo- Soul. I’ve had the privilege to tour and perform in many different cities, including Coast 2 Coast Live and BET Award Weekend all as an independent artist. Over the years, I’ve continued to build my fanbase and forge my own path in this music industry.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
For me personally. I want to reach a few milestones including having a gold/platinum single, as well as my album, and be financially free from my music. I’ve also always wanted a nationwide and international tour to connect with more people across the world.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
A few years ago, I started performing annually for the Coast 2 Coast Live World Championship trying to win the 1st place prize of $50,000. “The” first year I was ready to perform a hurricane cancelled the show, the next year Covid cancelled the show, then finally in 2021 I had the opportunity to show what’s I was made of. I placed in the top 10 out of over 20,000 contestants across the world, and the next year in 2022, I went back to perform and end up getting an opportunity to work with Zaytoven. Had a not kept continuing to strive for my goals and just gave up due to adversity, I would have missed out on a one of kind opportunity.
