We were lucky to catch up with Jordan Butler recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
I’ve lived and breathed wedding photography for 12 years now and a lot has changed.
With the rise of social media, it’s not just about selling your art, but selling yourself as a personality. This has brought in a new level of business, including reels, photo carousels, stories, algorithms, and more marketing.
There’s definitely a pressure to keep up with the trends, and one of the things I try to do is stay true to my style, regardless of what’s trending now.
My tagline is “photos that outlasts the trends” and I like to believe that 10 or 15 years down the road, my clients will love their photos for their timeless and classic, yet artistic, feel.

Jordan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a professional photographer with over 12 years of experience. My portfolio includes weddings, engagements, families, branding, and fitness.
My most recent accomplishment is shooting ambassador photography for lululemon stores around Charlotte, North Carolina, including Birkdale, South Park, Blakeney, and Atherton. It’s been such an amazing opportunity that I never would’ve dreamed of when I started photography at 15 years old.
Along with shooting weddings under my business, Jordan G Photography, I’ve branched my photography into branding for small business in and surrounding Charlotte under my new brand, Jordan G Butler.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the struggle.
Struggle, if we allow it, can yield even more creative art than ever before.
I remember many times in my photography journey that I struggled to learn a concept. Many times I wanted to give up, but when I chose to persevere and keep trying, it “clicked.” From it, I had breakthrough and developed more dynamic photographs.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth will always be king!
A majority of clients have come from happy customers who can’t help but spread the word. Which goes to show, wedding photography is more than creating timeless images: it’s creating an incredible and relaxing experience they’ll remember forever.
