We were lucky to catch up with Jordan Bray-Burns recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jordan, appreciate you joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
Looking back, I wish I had started my business sooner. I was always worried about failing, or what other people would think. I was having a hard time picturing myself doing what I was currently doing for work forever. The moment I stopped caring about what others think is the moment I experienced the most personal growth. The personal growth gave me the confidence to start that business, and Fight for what I wanted.
Jordan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My business currently offers year-round residential, and commercial property maintenance services. I stated the business with just a push mower that was given to me and grew it from there. We currently have multiple crews providing service to our community. My favorite part of the business is that I get to pass my knowledge, and experience on to others. We are focusing on trying to double the efficiency of the business, this will allow us to provide that next level service to our community on a larger scale.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective way to grow any clientele-based business is to be active in all parts of that business. For our business specifically it is being out on the community producing results. When we have a big property that we produce consistent, and good results on people notice. We all have that one neighbor that has the perfect manicured lawn or property, and we notice. People will stop us and ask us to come provide a quote almost every time we are finishing up on a job site.
Any advice for managing a team?
The most important thing when leading a team is taking action. People believe what they see not what they hear. A good leader will lead from the front and have the team and future in mind at all times. Another important thing is to remember that everyone is human, treat them how you would want to be treated.
