We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jonnise Atwater, MBA . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jonnise below.
Jonnise, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
My hope is that that my legacy will be that I empowered others to love themselves and tell their stories. I am passionate about the arts, self-love, mental health wellness, holistic and natural healing. It is through our testimonies that we encourage, inspire, and motivate others to be themselves and live their best lives.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I have been in the consulting, entertainment, nonprofit, publishing industries for over twenty years wearing many hats, mainly behind the scenes. The arts have always been my passion and marketing is an ever changing focus for me to master.
I love being creative, I am a serial entrepreneur, my niche focus is being an artist, event and media curator. I am the CEO of Atwater Productions & Publishing. We provide e-commerce products; online art galleries, YouTube Channel’s, podcasts, apparel, home decor, art, books and sooo much more. Not only do we produce our own content, we also provide platforms for affiliated artists and entrepreneurs within the communities we touch.
Our passion is bringing people together to enlighten, empower, and exchange artistry, share ideas, create conversations, and stimulate the minds. Establishing a no judgment, positive, self loving atmosphere, where people are free to be themselves. Creating content that evokes emotion, compassion, paying it forward mentality, speaking to the soul, the spirit of humanity.
One of my recent proudest moments is that my oldest daughter Chef Keon and I self-published two books. My book entitled “Fuego Dosage: Step N2 the Erogenous Zone” is an erotic poetry book incorporating erotic art. My daughters book “A Dose of Fuego: Dim Sum Edition “ is the complimentary food art and recipe book, which is inspired by “Fuego Dosage”. We are excited to launch “Empresses PopUp Book & Food Tour”, traveling state to state curating an all senses inclusive experience.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Being a teenage mother and single parent motivated me to push and persevere against all odds. I was determined to graduate high school, I went on to beauty school and after I completed I began working in corporate America. I enjoyed working with and assisting other artists, brands, entrepreneurs. My heart and soul was always working with the youth, mental health and the arts.
Academia became my mission, I wanted to lead by example and show my daughters that it doesn’t matter where you came from, who you are, what your financial circumstances may be, that whatever you put your mind to you can manifest. Going to college was my gateway for my personal development, I learned all that I could learn about business, management, human services and media. All of this aided me to become a resilient entrepreneur and guide my daughters to do the same.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
I am originally from New York, so I basically marketed, promoted and sold anything that you could think of. Growing up in the big apple, the city that never sleeps motivates you to stop at nothing to get what you want.
I loved going to the fashion district and exploring all of the many options of what I could purchase wholesale; hair, bags, clothes, jewelry, you name it!!! My first company was called Omoba, where I put together baskets filled with elements of a spa experience. I handmade spiritual baths, beaded jewelry, included rose petals, incense, body oils, candles, and natural soap.
Being part of organizations afforded me the opportunity to be a vendor at various events. Event marketing became my interest when I formulated my marketing strategy to get my brand and products out to the community. This was the catalyst to me becoming a serial entrepreneur.
Once I started going to college I had immersed myself with learning more about business practices. While in graduate school my concentration was media management, where I put together a business plan for a men’s lifestyle magazine. I had the pleasure of doing a study abroad component to Europe, which had a group of colleagues and myself formulate another business plan to show the viability of the magazine internationally. I was so stunned and excited when we did our final presentation and I had a tangible product, the magazine. This was the moment where I decided that this was the career that I wanted to pursue.
After years of investing my time and energy into assisting other artists, entrepreneurs and small businesses I decided to create a long-standing company that my children can be part of. Life’s journeys and lessons were grooming me to master my craft. Being a legacy builder has always been my focus, expressing myself and my art is always my passion.
