Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jonnisa Ware. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jonnisa , thanks for joining us today. Let’s go back in time a bit – can you share a story of a time when you learned an important lesson during your education?
In my small business management class my instructor, Laura Manyweather, told us “Every customer is not your customer”, and that has always stuck with me. In business, a lot of times we get stuck on getting as many customers as possible because of course the goal is to get your name & brand out there. However, knowing that some customers don’t fit your brand and vision wether it’s due to budgets, personality or otherwise is so important
Jonnisa , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a custom party connoisseur, I create anything and everything you can think of for parties, custom made of course. From party favors, to banners, to event set up I do it all! I take the stress out of your big day so you can focus on more important things.
The biggest thing I want potential clients to know is no event is too big or too small and I think outside of the box. My creativity sets me apart.
I’m most proud of my commitment to keep learning and growing in this business. I’m always taking classes, researching and watching more established decorators to keep up with current market trends and just to stay competitive overall.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
For me, the best source of new clients has been word of mouth. People see my work at their friends and family members’ events and find me from there. My work stands out and speaks for itself.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Right now, I’m pivoting! I’m new to Atlanta (kind of) but I don’t have the luxury of word of mouth like I did in LA. I don’t have friends here that I can say “hey let me do this event for you, and you refer your people to me” so I’m using different strategies to build my clientele. I’ve done a few events, a few party favors, but I’m not where I want to be yet. For me, it’s navigating a whole new market, so I’ve been reaching out to nonprofits and just simply networking wherever I am, carrying flyers, joining groups and just trying to get my work out there.
